Kaspersky 8 for Windows 7 not updating

Recommended Posts

I had an issue with it lastnight where I did a fresh install of Windows 7, installed some drivers, then installed the free Kaspersky AV for Win7. After it rebooted, I could get about 1 minute of use, and then the whole computer was hosed. I had no response and had to hard restart. When I did this 2 more times I decided to remove it. Once I removed it, the computer worked 100%. Not sure what the hell went on with it lastnight, but it definitely didn't operate like my laptop. On my laptop, running win7 and the same version of kaspersky AV, I sometimes get 89% done, and then the update stops.

Bear in mind, this version of Kaspersky is Pre-release as well....

It keeps giving me errors saying the update files are corrupt for all the servers it tries. Anyone else?

I encountered multiple issues with Kaspersky on one of my Win7 installs. Sorry to sound so negative, but ditch it. Now.

It was great before... anyways I tried out TrendMicro's and it didnt work very well so I uninstalled it. For now Im just back on vista since I dont feel like rebooting.

Any suggestions for any of the other W7 AV's?

Are you referring to the technical preview? If so, a lot of people had issues with it. If you're using the tech preview, try out the 8.0.0.506 release.

If you want a different AV you should try out Avira.

Yes Tech Preview. I just started a reinstall but I needed to restart to do it. Hopefully it was the new version you are talking about.

If this doesnt work Ill try out Avira
