Cool318
And i read that it will start shutting down every 2 hours on july 1. Can i just upgrade or do i have to do a clean install?
Livin in a box
Get 7137, and if you leave the ISO alone you'll only be able to clean install. If you extract the ISO with something like winRAR, then locate the cversion.ini file in the sources and change the MinClient from 7077 to 7000. null_
You can upgrade but it isn't recommended, nor is it supported. In order to do so, you will need to modify a file on the Windows installation media in order to enable the upgrade option - please see http://blogs.msdn.com/e7/archive/2009/04/0...experience.aspx for more information. Biohead
7100 is the RC release from microsoft. Easiest way to go, some support offered by microsoft, and no legal issues.
jbo
Although you can upgrade you should not. Also, do yourself a favor and get the official release straight from Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/windows-7/download.aspx
Thunderbuck
1. Perform a Windows Easy Transfer on your 7000 build to extract all your files, settings, etc. to an external hard drive. 2. Perform a clean install of 7100 (or *sigh* 7127 if you must...) 3. Open Easy Transfer on your fresh install and pull everything back. Best of both worlds. Clean install, AND you get to keep all your stuff. PS: I tried upgrading my one 7000 build to 7100 by editing the cversion.ini as has been suggested here. Didn't go well. Wouldn't boot past the "Starting Windows" screen. Save yourself some time and perform the fresh install.

When I go to 7127 or 7137 I will be doing the Windows easy transfer to a spare External HD. That's the only way to go with NO Problems.
BestBeatingHeart
What I don't get is how to save cversion.imi... every time I tried it said I needed admin permission, which is nuts because I'm the only user and I have UAC completely off. Tried changing it to non read-only too and wouldn't work. How can I get around this?
