[Official] Red Faction: Guerrilla

The first one was great, I don't know what you're talking about. The second one was horrible.

I dont know, besides the "terrain destruction" novelty, the game was kinda generic for me.

Never played the original Red Faction, was around the same time Quake was rolling out as one of the top FPS games in it's time. That and Unreal. Will be picking it up though to see what i've been missing out on I suppose.

Quake? Dont you mean Half-Life?

How's the terrain destruction, can we still dig our way through mountains and walls?

There is none, it's all buildings now. It actually works better, IMO.

I'm at the end of the game. I only have 1 more sector to liberate and then (I presume) the story side is finished, and I will really concentrate on doing the guerilla actions, which include the raids and destruction challenges.

I wish it let me play with the building destruction more. If you blow up a building, and then go back to it later it'll still be destroyed. That means, once you've blown everything up, that's it... or if you had alot of fun taking a particular building down, well you'll just have to keep that good memory because you won't be able to do it again! It would've been great if they added a mode like the glass house in the first Red Faction, just a big stretch of land with loads of buildings and unlimited explosives and all you do is have some fun with the destruction physics. It's like the euphoria engine in GTA IV, it's so awesome but you can't just mess around with it without cops coming after you or without wasting ammo/health. Why not let us play with these awesome things freely?!

However I've been thoroughly enjoying the game, gets a solid 8.5/10 from me so far!

Yeah, that is kind of annoying.

Just IMO, what this game has improved over GTA:

- Weapons and gunplay

- Cover

- Vehicle driving

- Time between missions/actions

- Graphics

- The obvious (destruction)

- Save anywhere

What it doesn't have:

- Great storyline/cutscenes (for me, this is a plus)

- Tons of weapons

- Tons of vehicles

Haven't tried multiplayer yet.

Something tells me he wasn't playing on casual. It's alot more fun on casual because you can actually have fun destroying stuff without being killed so easily.

The guy can never win, people complain about him playing on the 'easier' difficulty levels and now it's bad since he's playing on the harder ones :p

:p I just enjoy picking faults.

I totally don't agree with him saying that Red Faction 1 was terrible. It was a brilliant game.

It's just his opinion though, just like I have mine.

Red Faction 1 didn't suck by any stretch of the imagination :p I don't see how they hardly let you use the technology -- you could do almost anything to the terrain. It was amazing for its time.

Multiplayer really surprised me. It's so much better than the beta on the 360 was. That thing was just not good at all... but now it rocks! :D

Just bought this game, and so far is great but I think I've run into some kind of glitch a couple of times: when driving a vehicle, usually when attacking something with a guerrilla, sometimes the vehicle suddenly thrusts forward at full speed. I'm not even hitting the gas, and I can't brake either.

It only happened a couple of times, and it was fun anyway as going full speed I was able to climb any mountain, make some huge jumps and run through any building  It stopped when crashing hard into the ground after one of those jumps though.

Annoying issue that a lot of people are having on the PC version while play with 5.1 sound means that the different channels are all on full blast and you cant hear anything but the wind of the dessert. Means I have to play in stereo. Volition has acknowledged it's an issue but no dates for a fix yet.

Red Faction 1 to me pushed PS2 to it's limits in the form of the GEOMOD.

Red Faction 2 was ok, just wished Red Faction Guerrilla was FPS.. and it's abit too open road.. enjoyed the game, nearly completed the game. Less then 16hrs playing time.
