Ive made sure that it is a Jasper this time. I hope that it holds out for almost 2 years. Wish me Luck Gentlemen , BTW how sturdy is the new Jasper , anybody here who got a RROD on a Jasper yet ? Also how the hell am i supposed to connect to Xbox live using a Beetel 450BX1 Modem+ Router. I can connect to the Internet but i cant connect to XBL using the same. Any ideas ?? +Mystic MVC Posted May 30, 2009 MVC Share Posted May 30, 2009 Any reason why you didn't consider purchasing a warranty extension, especially after your first?
PixilEyes
After 1 I would of said screw it. Did you have a option to purchase a extended warrenty? That's a lot of money for 3 box's
Brad.
i havent heard of a Jasper RRODing yet, but when it happens I'm sure we'll here about it
+Mystic MVC Posted May 30, 2009 MVC Share Posted May 30, 2009 Did you have a option to purchase a extended warrenty? That's a lot of money for 3 box's At anytime during the period you are under warranty, you have the option of paying $25 for another year of full warranty coverage. With a console known to have trouble, I just assumed people would be more concerned about their warranties etc.
Death Proof
errm Gentlemen , im not from America but from Punjab . Not to mention we are not offered extended warranty over here & Microsoft is still busy Dumping old Zephyrs & Falcons over here . So i got myself a spanking new Jasper from one of my trips to the Orient ( Japan ) . So far GOW 2 look much better to me as compared to Crysis Warhead ( i do have a quad core behemoth running a HD 4870 , but that's strictly for my Animation work ) . BTW in case someone is wondering why i didnt buy a PS3 , its because i get to play with it when im in my office.
+Mystic MVC Posted May 30, 2009 MVC Share Posted May 30, 2009 Wow that would really make me think twice about a 360 if I couldn't get a warranty extension. Ouch!
Astra.Xtreme
I'm in a similar position. :) I have a launch 360 that is pretty much at the point where I can't revive it anymore. I'm a poor college student, so my options are pretty much buy one off Craigslist/Ebay for $100 and risk it dying again, or just play it safe and buy a brand new Jasper. I can't imagine the Valhalla revision is slated to be released this summer, is it? I'll most likely go for a Jasper if I can be fairly confident it won't give me any issues, so I'm curious to hear about any problems that arise. neoadorable
congrats on the purchase. the Jaspers run a lot cooler and quieter. Have had one for a few months now and the difference compared to the previous versions is noticable. Wasn't the three year warranty a global offer? when exactly did you buy your first 360? at any rate, don't apologize for enjoying the console, i BOUGHT my second one voluntarily, plus had two fizzle out on me. It so hasn't even put a dent in my 360 lovin it ain't funny.
Kushan
If your 360 red rings, it's worth googling for the "x-clamp fix", if done right it'll fix 99% of RROD consoles. Since you're out of warranty, why not open up the console and have a go?
jewishornet
Wow even with the knowledge we have have of the 360's faulty hardware and poor case design and even after not one but two 360's die on you, you are going to give microsoft more of your money for a third 360? Thats insane, I guess product placement is working because there was a time when consumers wouldn't stand for this crap.
Death Proof
Lemme explain the whole deal to ya folks, My First console ( Launch - purchased in 2005 ) died on me with a 3rrod but after 1.5 years of use . Since Microsoft didn't have a 3 year warranty back then i had to get rid of this and get a new one . The New one was purchased in late 2007 ( Zephyr ) & it served me well but unfortunately when it did RROD , it didnt RROD with 3 lights , it RROD with 4 lights . According to Microsoft the 3 year extended warranty is only available for 3RROD Consoles & not the others. Anyways i bit the bullet again & got myself a Jasper this time. God forbid anything goes wrong with this one , i shall officially hunt down & beat the living daylights out of J. Allard, Robbie Bach & Big Bill himself. Ji@nBing
If you ever have another problem, look on youtube for RROD fix. I picked up an out of warranty 360 that had RROD for $25. Did the "penny trick" and it's working perfectly now. Only took about 20 mins in total too.

Sikh
Yeah he did. 4 lights mean AV issue. The Cable. MOST of the time its the Cable. its rare that the PORT goes bad. HDMI or not HDMI you should of checked the cables again.

BTW those cables are still with me & im using them right now.
ToneKnee
Just to ask something about the 3 year warranty thing, I thought Microsoft made the 3 year warranty available to ALL consoles, regardless when they were bought?
neoadorable
weird, my GPU burnt out twice and never got four lights. it was always the visual artifacts, the mesh effect and then three lights if left on for more than an hour or so. besides, the three light clause in the extended warranty was merely a "give us a break" thing for MS, to my knowledge they never tested machines sent back. All they wanted to hear is "yes, i got three lights" from the user. Why didn't you just send her in as a regular hardware failure? Is needless honesty also part of Sony marketing lore :p ? jerzdawg
Just to ask something about the 3 year warranty thing, I thought Microsoft made the 3 year warranty available to ALL consoles, regardless when they were bought? That is correct, there was a time period that the warranty was only 1 year. So the OP must have bought a new one before MS announced the 3 year warranty...
