DSLJay
Windows 7's Power Management Reports determines why your laptop's battery life is not as good as the manufacturer's specification! The Power Management Reports command performs a 60 second analysis of your computer?s energy consumption and provides you with a report listing the devices and drivers that hamper Sleep, or hinder that the full power saving features of your machine can not be utilized. It also lists if your hardware is capable of S1, S2, S3 or S4 sleep modes. Run the command prompt "CMD" as Administrator Type "powercfg -ENERGY" Locate your custom report here: C:\Windows\system32\energy-report.html BLAKE NOTE: I personally found I needed to update a number of hardware drivers to resolve my own problems that prevented my computer from a "good sleep" Source: http://bhandler.spaces.live.com/blog/cns...!5541.entry
Camlann
You can also use the "output" cmd to specify where to store the html file ;) powercfg -energy -output C:\MyFile.html
br0adband
This is some damned useful info that I wasn't even aware of, and I've already made use of the reports on two laptops to "get 'em done" with respect to better quality/updated drivers and re-ran the reports and gotten much better results. I'm sure this will translate into longer battery life as well. Thanks for bringing this out of the dark and into the light as I'm sure with more and more people becoming aware of it, we'll all get far better and longer battery life from our laptops/notebooks with a little help from this diagnostic tool. I know for sure it'll be something I run on a regular basis on any laptops that I'll be running Windows 7 on to keep things squared away.

mad_onion
This is really cool. On my eee pc 1000h I get an error for Adaptive Display Brightness Support and ACPI _PSD Object Failed Validation. I'm not sure if most people get these errors. I t says updating the bios might fix it but I can't find any info about whether the new bios eee pc 1000h bios has these features..... Also, it says I don't have a WMM power save router. does anyone know which routers support this feature? Edited May 30, 2009 by mad_onion
