Imran Hussain
As far as I remember, every new Windows release has had a new 'Computer' and Recycle Bin icon. Can't see why that couldn't happen now. It WONT need testing. It's NOT a feature. The crayon-ish icons and the glossy Vista ones don't match at all. Aren't these reasons enough for people to be hopeful and stop being in denial? Lets just wait and see. It's better to be hopeful now than to say a confident NO and FAKE and get 'I told ya so' from people later.
Brendando
^^+1 Why do people get all smug and insanely sure that their OPINION alone is correct, lol? C'monnnn crayonish icons :D
Snowl
This is yet another example of people forgetting window 7 is just a minor release.I doubt anything else will change. How is windows 7 a minor release. Please don't say about 6.1, because that means nothing.
hdood
There aren't any major architectural changes, like from XP to Vista (or to a certain extent XP to XP SP2 too).
neoraptor
They have to change something because otherwise there is no reason why i would purchase final edition, instead i can stick with the perfectly legal rc for quite long. ... and yes this is pimped vista :)
The Rev
I'll say no, just cuz MS doesn't seem to know whats best for them at this point, seeing as they're about to release the second OS in a row that will be thoroughly untested... They're not using the beta process like they used to..... We should be getting more than the beta and rc milestones..... if that's all ur gonna give us, might as well call it the "preview program"... Dane
Everyone seems to forget, right before Vista went RTM, Icons were changed and sounds were added. So I believe again, before this version goes RTM that stuff will change again.

null_
I can't see Microsoft changing them now. They seem to have designed a lot of new icons specifically for Windows 7, such as the ones for Wordpad, Paint, and the Control Panel (where the icons in Windows Vista would have been acceptable). However, keep in mind that Microsoft did indeed introduce an entire new icon set for most of the built-in applications for the RTM build of Windows Vista, so if history repeats itself then yes it's possible. boogerjones
The RC is feature complete.+ No Icons are not a feature.
bbfc_uk
I think they will change a few, just like they did from the RC to RTM in Vista.
crazlunatic
they've already changed a lot from the beta to the RC. I think they're done with the icon changing but wouldn't be a surprise if they changed a few for RTM
Ez8
I don't mean to be rude but you probably won't care about the icons while using the OS after a month.
Brendando
Ez8, I beg to differ. The icons and in a larger perspective the feel of the OS will matter to me even more after a month. If I didn't like the icons to begin with, by the end of that month, I'm going to hate it. If I liked them at the start, good chance that I'll still like them at the end. It's all about user experience, :p
Jimmy422
It's not impossible that they'll be changed but what I find absurd is your absolute certainty that it will happen. Personally I'd like to see many changes, especially to the Orb, but it seems very late in development to be making such changes. I mean, the icon that appears next to the Open button for executables should have been updated immediately but it's still showing a horrible icon from back in the XP days. Still, I'm hopeful Microsoft has been holding back icons / wallpapers / sounds - content that is not related to the functionality of the operating system - that were withheld to keep mystique. I'm positive they're going to change it because there's no reason they wouldn't. Just because it's at RC stage doesn't mean it's all just little fixes from here on out. We've already seen new icons slowly coming in, it's just last on the list of changes to make. They're trying to keep it from being another vista-at-release, so they're concentrating on compatibility and such right now. And as already mentioned, there hasn't been one OS release from microsoft that hasn't had new icons. I've got a good feeling that we'll see new icons or at the least recolors. Having only 5 or so new icons is just silly. Actually to get to the bottom of this, i fired off an email to the E7 team. Dunno if i'll get a response, but i tried. TAZMINATOR
If Microsoft won't change them in RTM build, then you can change the icons by yourself with an icon changing software or a theme based software. The Evil Overlord 1 Share
qdave
they've already changed a lot from the beta to the RC. I think they're done with the icon changing but wouldn't be a surprise if they changed a few for RTM thats a good point ;) first time you install it..wow nice icons, and after a while you dont even notice them. and those who really hate current icons can always change them with certain customization software.
