Recommended Posts

I recently bought both Splinter Cell Chaos Theory and SC double Agent but they keep on crashing during gameplay. If i make any fast movements or about a minute into the game the whole sysyem crashes.

MY PC SPECS:

2.4 GHz Core 2 Quad

2GB DDR2 ram

Biostar Motherboard with on board GeForce 7100 512MB

ATI 4650 Graphics Card 1GB memory

Windows XP Service Pack 3

GTA 4 Plays fine on my system but These splinter cell games all crash.

Please Help!

Have you patched them to the latest update? Do you get a message when the game crashes like "General Protection Fault"? Does the game only crash or does your computer do a whole reboot?

It looks like the patches do fix reported crash issues.

Are you using GeForce/ION Driver Release 185

" I think there's a few posts around here about the 7xxx series of cards having difficulties with drivers. You are right to assume to use an older version, I just can't recall which. You might get lucky and find the thread that nails which driver, but I think the early 1xx.xx series should work. "

" Problems reported with Geforce 9800> Splinter Cell Double Agent there is an intermittent white flash of corruption when running at 1280x1068 and with 2x antialiasing and night vision enabled. "

Good luck

The whole system crashes and the pc reboots. The screen would go blue and then would reboot with a beep from the box.

You may need to search the Ubisoft forums; many people have had problems with the PC SC games with XP SP 3, Vista and Win 7.

This Problem Occured when i still had XP Pro SP2, i thought that upgrading to SP3 would fix the problem, so the problem is not with the OS. Can u send me specs for a PC that can play SC Double Agent please. I might have to get a new PC coz its frustrating. Thanx

What? You are going to buy a new computer to play 2 games which have past their sell by date? It sounds like an issue with drivers or the operating systems.

I did a lot of browsing around the internet.

You're not the only one who has a problem with these games.

It's no reason to buy a new pc.

Patch, and try again.

Try compatability modes.

Yeah, SC have had a lot of trouble in the past, I had bit of trouble at the time myself.

I can only suggest trying patches, no-cd patches as this sometimes fixed the issue (as long as you own the games, but i'm not allowed to say where from), make sure direct-x is up to date, acceleration settings are right. Also check your audio drivers too.

It sounds like your PC is blue screening (BSOD'ing), disable blue screen-reboots and you might be able to tell us what sort of error occurs, and any codes (if any).

I Disabled BSOD the error shown is:

"Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or

shadowing.

Technical Information:

*** STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0xB9114BCE, 0xA9C2E70c, 0x00000000)

*** RtkHDAud.sys-Address B9114BCE base at B8FCC000, DateStamp 4670ff4f"

This could the audio driver i use:

Realtek GbE & FE Ethernet PCI-E NIC Driver.

Should I uninstall and update the driver from REALTEK site?
