Udedenkz
First, searching the computer for "*.html" gives files with .html extension as well as files with "html" in their file name and folders with "html" in their name. How would one search for .html files on Windows 7 (ONLY for files with .html extension) or any extension for that matter? Second, Windows Search refused to search for "*.mp3" files on a DVD or CD - stating that no files were found (Windows XP revealed a total of 14). Actually it didn't search as there was no drive activity. What is the new method for searching for "*.mp3" files on a DVD? Also, did anyone experience a bug in which you insert a CD/DVD and explore it, then go to a directory on it, then go back just to find it doing something and not giving you the files & dirs on the root of the DVD? It happened, and it was doing some heavy work with my DVD disk and refusing to show the contents that it just a second ago shown without a problem - I closed that window down and opened a new one but, same thing - heavy work with drive - refusal to show contents of disk. Waited a min or two, then opened drive and closed it again - that fixed it....
I8PP
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/...s/advquery.mspx Not exactly intuitive, but ext:.mp3 or kind:mp3 will find all MP3 files in the current viewing folder (and subfolders) Edited May 31, 2009 by I8PP

Guest xiphi
:( That four more letters; I will have a look at alternative search apps. You're complaining because you have to type extra characters to get the result you want? As for searching CDs and DVDs, searching only seems to look through the current folder and not sub-folders which is lame.

Actually, no. I just do not get what was wrong with the Asterisk. I would never even thought they would kill it... did they kill of the question mark as well? Now it is going to be hard to search for " ?.* " >:( Also the DVD thing, is that going to be corrected or is that a feature? (This constitutes a valid reason for uninstalling Windows search)
