JTW
Hi I am trying to install windows 7 On to my laptop. (an Acer Aspire 5715Z). But before it begins to install it says "A required CD/DVD driver device is missing." Now One thing I don't understand is how It has managed to get even this far, as I am installing from a DVD but surely without the drivers that shouldn't be possible. Would anyone know what i need to do to solve this. I really want to try Windows 7. Thanks Joe
lee31
You might need to turn off IDE Emulation in the bios. Either that or the IDE controller is missing or out of date. Edited June 1, 2009 by lee26
StrikedOut
You may also need to download the iso file again. I had the same problem and the MD5 check sum was wrong. It took me 3 attampts to get it correct, I then burned to DVD using the slowest setting on Nero and it installed without an issue. Check the MD% checksum is correct then try to burnto DVD at the slowest speed possible. J.
JTW
Thanks for the help I cant find the IDE Emulation in the BIOS. So I checked the MD5 Checksum and it seems I got the 86 bit version instead of the 32 bit, now I'm not sure if that would have an effect but I'l download the 32 bit version and try that. Thanks again
RatherLargeBear
x86 is 32 bit Did you mean x64?
Flaggie
You can also try mounting it using daemon tools (if you have an os on your laptop at the moment) and install it from there.
