Shrihari
Hello, I tried installing Windows 7 RC using Virtualbox on my system and the installation went out smoothly. I allocated 1GB ram and 128MB Video ram for the Virtual machine. But, Windows Aero doesn't seem to work on the machine. I used to Performance index to rate my machine and got only "1.0". However, i currently run Vista Ultimate and the rating is 3.1 and Aero runs perfectly on Vista. My question is "Is this an issue due to Virtualbox ? Will aero work if i install Windows 7 separately ?" Thanks,
9UnknownMen
I don't think virtualbox supports DX only OpenGL.
darth_vader
You can't get aero in VirtualBox, VirtualPC, VMWare ... etc, at least not now.
Shrihari
Oh... I just did a quick google search and found that DirectX is not provided by any of these Virtual machines. Thanks for your replies :)

hdood
My question is "Is this an issue due to Virtualbox ? Will aero work if i install Windows 7 separately ?" VirtualBox has to emulate hardware, the guest OS doesn't have access to the real hardware like an OS installed on the machine would. Aero would work fine on your machine. Jimmie
Aero works fine on my EeePC (900HA) running Windows 7. I have an index of 2.0.

Mike
OP has a Vista host that runs Aero and a virtual machine with a W7 guest that does not run Aero (for obvious reasons) Yes, and the OP was asking if he installed Win 7 separately it would work, and stezo was saying if it works in vista it'll work in 7 too, i think he knew the OP was having the problem in a VM. MagicAndre1981
You can't have Aero Glass inside a VM. But you can get Aero Glass when you're running the same OS as guest and host (Vista-Vista or Win7-Win7) and connect with RDP to the VM. Now you have Aero Glass. JessicaD
Shrihari, If possible and you would like to experience the Windows Areo GUI, I would try a dual boot or adding a second hard drive.
