tomwarren Veteran Posted June 4, 2009 Veteran Share Posted June 4, 2009 (edited) Important: Build 7201 IS NOT a pre SP1 Build. The IDX Client and Server builds are to help with final pre-deployment testing. They will be distributed to TAP and OEM customers via Connect, similar to the bi-weekly RRP audience. Timebomb behavior identical to RC. Limited servicing. Will reuse RC EULA. Same languages as RC Exit (EN,DE,ES,FR,JA)." In addition there will be a Client SP released to a limited set of TechBeta participants (delivery via WU). SP will be based off the RC build and will go to a limited audience but not necessarily under NDA. It will be a .CAB file that installs on the RC build; WU detection dependent on a reg key available from the TechBeta site. the SP is edition-agnostic - it would install on either Server or Client, but Server will be turned off for this release. Sensitive Asset test pass will be dependent on whether any SA compo-nents were touched (TBD). This milestone is termed the "Internal Developer Client and Server" (IDX) build - it'san internal quality term we use meaning that the build is stable enough to deploy and evaluate, but may contain more minor bugs than a RC build." Yes indeed :) Once 7 has RTM'd there will still be bugs and some that are so minor that MS will fix them with hotfixes later and into the SP phase. Full servicing starts as soon as RTM has finished and it moves onto hotfixes and SP builds, work is never complete. lee31
The EULA still says "Release Candidate".............
SoyoS
Build 7200 is simply another internal branch and has no label, this build was never meant to be released to the public so Microsoft never gave it an official name. It's also not a SP1 branch as minor changes are still going into the RC build.
KeeperOfThePizza
Hi, was wondering if this build is worth upgrading from 7100, danke.

ToneKnee
The EULA still says "Release Candidate"............. It's not a Release Candidate, but a IDX build which Tom W mentioned earlier, also, don't forget that later builds of the original Beta said "Beta" and "Release Candidate" which doesn't actually make them that. Microsoft doesn't need to change the EULA everytime they make a new build, only when they release a new public build where EULA comes into real effect. Build 7200 is simply another internal branch and has no label, this build was never meant to be released to the public so Microsoft never gave it an official name. It's also not a SP1 branch as minor changes are still going into the RC build.

M0rpheus
On pb, the torrent uploader says he will upload 7225 soon. Now that's just not fair, giving us 7200 and then 7225 within a day or 2 of each other. By the sounds of it, 7225 would be the test SP1 update to see how Win 7 handles a large update. For now though, 7200 is purring along faster than any other previous build (at least UI wise) so I'm happy to keep it for a couple of weeks. I never really had time to install 7137 until a few days ago and just 'had' to install 7201 this morning. ;) Runs great.I agree that the uploader shouldn't tease us like that. I like having many builds though. :)

Lord Ba'al
windows 7 was Feature locked at beta 1 nothing newcan anyone confirm the 64bit is real or has it been tampered with ? I can confirm that the digital signature is ok, so no worries if your 7201 x64 iso matches the posted hascodes. Um no... I'm sure he actually likes real girls... How would you know? Have you ever met him and asked him? ...with the same anime pic. It's always a different anime pic on the hash screens. Pay more attention. this is the Pre-RTM branch, so when it does RTM, when it does RTM, most likely the build number will be 7200 (as this has been reserved). Nonsense, they have already built 7200 before 7201, it's not reserved or anything. Even if it were, they certainly wouldn't go back to 7200 from wherever they would be once Rtm is done. Rtm will most likely be 7300, as I doubt they'll put yet another milestone in between. Also, it's not "RC2", "pre-Rtm" or whatever, it's a Internal Developer (ID) build. On pb, the torrent uploader says he will upload 7225 soon. Interesting... 7225 is from a different branch, so I'd be curious to know where the differences lie. No where the computer will show "Starting Windows" and the three dots will not come up and the computer freezes. Or the computer goes to boot, and you get a black screen that's it. Start up repair will not work and your only option is to format and reinstall. https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=773924
boogerjones
Although I'm not able to do any measurements, Windows Explorer does seem to navigate folders faster than 7100. It's possible that I had some interfering software installed with RC, but it was noticeably slower clicking through folders than 7201 is.
Captain Zero
Funny how things change. This thread went from "it doesn't exist" to "installing now". Insulting me (quoted verbatim from the first page) or users like SoLoR won't get you the latest builds. I've posted 7127 and now 7201 and been warned twice for it. I have 2-3 left, enough to get us to RTM. A little civility and even gratitude for the efforts put into getting these out might not be such a bad idea. Or, you can wait and get it from 9down like the rest of the neophytes. See you in the funny papers. Lord Ba'al
I see that they've worked some more on WinSat. It's getting better, butt not quite there yet. Curiously enough, after it was done with its run and had updated the scores, it restarted itself and run again ance more
