Elliot B.
Yup, once you add up all the "faster" claims, 7 is actually 3000% faster than Vista and might even run without a computer at all.

san.W10
Well, found a new bug within 20 seconds, WMP opening up another Taskbar Icon when already pinned but it took about a second to fix.Apart from that, feels nice, as fast as 7127 at least which is my current favourite build. i sometimes have that issue with IE8 in RC. either a log off-log on or a restart fixes it :D
plocri
I noticed that now my graphic card (Ati 4870) scores 7.5 in Windows Experience Index in build 7201 x64; in previous builds it was 6.8 And my cpu (Core2Duo E8400) scores 6.6 instead of 6.5 All other things looks identical to me

George P Global Moderator Posted June 4, 2009 Global Moderator Share Posted June 4, 2009 I'm surprised that all these people installing build after build won't go that extra step and run a benchmark or two. If it's getting faster, it'll show in something like Sysmark which runs loads of general benchmarks and not game specific ones.

cykosis
but why does they started build sp1 so early before 7200 is compiled!!! Pre-SP1 is where all of your release day patches will be coming from.
WizardCM
I can already see there aren't too many changes, but speed and bug fixes are always a good thing. :)
BoDEAN
the weather gadget dosnt work :( Didn't know people still used that bland default weather gadget. So many better alternatives out there.
Shokus
^ For example(s)? So far all I've caught from this thread is mainly speed... no bug fixes listed yet...
Zain Adeel
what disappoints me is the icons and buttons need some work.. and they are not doing it.. its a one man job .. would take me 3 4 dayx to do it.... i dont understand why they arent doing it. other then that.. i think they want to do some optimization that is why they branched away with the SP1.. so they can try different set of code tunings to make sure the SP1 speeds this windows more then SP1 improved Vista.. :p just a thought.. :p

08993
Tages doesn't work in 7201 - which means games using Tages copy protection won't run. Tested with Riddick: Dark Athena and confirmed not working.

Guest neo7
Warning: some internal vga usb 2.0 notebook cameras (vmicro, chicony, samsung, ...) are not picked by this build and (vista) oem drivers for those devices are also not recognized/installable in 7201! Stick with 7137--it's a polished 7100 with no regressions like this one.
penta_a
After installing this build, my VGA card ATI 4870 X2 performance mark went from 6.1 in all previous builds to 7.2 in this build using same drivers. very good improvement.

Simply a change in their WEI benchmarking routine, rather than a real graphics performance gain. An nvidia 8400gs jumped from 4.2 to 5.3 under 7201, but 3dmark06 didn't change ;-)
