DrunknMunky Veteran Posted June 6, 2009 Veteran Share Posted June 6, 2009 Wow, those screens really are amazing :D @Garrett, you need to stop with the butt hurt :p It's not all about looks, infact steering and FPS are the most important when it comes to sims. TDQuiksilver
except the game doesn't run at 1080p, it just upscales from 720p...http://xboxevolved.e-mpire.com/article/For...ort_3/5541.html game looks amazing though, don't know about the whole "definitive racing game of this generation" babble they are going on about. I think gt5 looks better. Agreed. Atleast the Microsoft boys have a decent looking racing sim now. ;)
Inctye
Agreed.Atleast the Microsoft boys have a decent looking racing sim now. ;) I guess all those investments in graphics is finally paying off. I don't think they will stop here. You can only imagine how Forza 4 will look like if F3 is like this.

sn00pie
You guys will be surprised to hear this. Looks like those 360 owners without a hard-drive will be missing out on some features... Forza 3 will soon ship on two 360 discs, with one holding the core product and another hosting additional content. However, news site Joystiq reports that, because of the two-disc set-up, not all 360 owners will be able to access all the game's content. At the same time, questions are being placed on whether Metal Gear Rising will be able to fit on a single dual-layer DVD; Kojima once infamously stated that Sony's Blu-ray format wasn't big enough to fit in everything MGS4 had to offer. Forza 3 developers Turn 10 has confirmed how the full Forza 3 experience will work. The additional content on disc two will be downloaded and stored on the Xbox 360's hard drive. The game itself will run from the core content on disc one and, as the game is being played, data from the hard drive will be accessed to provide the additional content. But the 360's basic Arcade SKU, of course, doesn't come with a hard drive; a near-certain indication that 360 Arcade owners will not be able to play the full game. http://www.developmag.com/news/32098/Repor...-falling-behind
rajputwarrior
^ and good, that'll teach the idiots at microsoft for even having a model without an HD. You don't think Polyphony knows how to make a realistic handling racing sim? its not like they've never done it before... and gt5 will run at 60 fps, just like the the prologue did. .Markus
The game looks amazing judging from those screenshots! Let's just hope that the cars in F3 can be totally destroyed in crashes as in real life, and not as Forza 2 where they had to limit the damage done due to the manufacturers. I also hope that the rewind feature will be nicely integrated, and won't spoil the overall flow of play.
Scazza
This game gives me an E-Boner. Seriously, October cannot come quick enough. This is going to be a Launch Day buy and I will be happy to pay ?40-?45 for it, no questions asked! The comparison shots from Forza 2 to Forza 3 just shows how much Turn 10 has worked on Forza 3 and it looks absolutely stunning. The features they are adding only build on the greatness that this game can achieve, the crashes, the damage and even that tire wear feature just adds to the realism that I love about racing simulators, as long as it is implimented well and works, Im going to be a very very happy gamer in October. Lamp0
game looks amazing though, don't know about the whole "definitive racing game of this generation" babble they are going on about. I think gt5 looks better. Technically I don't know, but I'd guess they're pretty close. But in terms of art style they're quite different. GT5 is, from what I have seen, more photorealistic. Forza3 has a more exotic style. In thend it's just down to which you prefer.
Xerxes
I just had a nerdgasm just by looking at the differences between Forza2 and Forza3 :) GT5 can indeed pack its 5 billions cars and gtfo. While I agree Forza 3 has landed a (near) death blow on GT (it's their own fault, they were stagnant for far too long), GT still has it's place. I plan to buy both Forza 3 and GT5 and I plan to enjoy both of them :D as for GT5, I have one small sentence that sums it all up for me, "Top Gear test track". strotee
Who cares? They wanted the cheaper model, they get the cheaper features... Just get an Hard Drive and you have a Pro X360... So what you're saying is it's OK to purchase a console and not be able to play all the games developed on it without spending more on accessories? Is that really the Pandora's box you want to open upon console gaming? "Oh, sorry Timmy, you cannot play Final Fantasy 18 because your parents could only afford the low-end console at Xmas. I'm sure we can convince them to sink another $100 into this 20 GB hard drive."

You don't think Polyphony knows how to make a realistic handling racing sim? its not like they've never done it before...and gt5 will run at 60 fps, just like the the prologue did. GT isn't really in the same category as Forza though, GT is simulation lite always has been and doesn't seem like it'll change, compared to forza, the actual sim part of GT is a lot more arcade. yeah sure they're adding damage and stuff, but that along doesn't make it a hardcore sim. There's a reason why all the sim players started moving ot xbox with Forza, and even more with forza 2. GT is closer to PGR when it comes to the actual racing (PGR 3/4 anyway). Not saying GT is a bad game, it's a great game, and a good sim racer. But if simulation is what you want, then Forza is the game you go for. Also http://forzamotorsport.net/en-us/news/The-...or-Xbox-360.htm Dayum, that's sweet stuff. I don't care about full lock since it's useless and stupid for racing anyway, but that's a nice wheel. Even if it's a Porche wheel....

It's also better for gifts, and you can get a console as a gift. while if they only had more expensive HD models, you maybe wouldn't. Then you can buy a HDD for the console later IF/WHEN you need it. btw, your argument is flawed. you need a guitar or rockband instrument pack to play GH/RB, you need microphones to play the singing games, you need the buzzers to play the buzzer games..... AJR1
Forza 3 looks amazing. Finally something to push the GT series on looks. For all the PS3 guys out there (i own one too) I love how Sony were pushing the whole 1080p thing, and i actually looked back at some of the older 360 games and all of these were 1080p native, the PS3 has to be "forced" to run in 1080p mode, at which point if you move it to another display that isn't 1080p you have to take it to a display that is 1080p and change it to support whatever resolution your moving too. The worst console ever made, its pathetic. Forza 3 can kick GT out of the water, and let the PS guys come and enjoy a decent racing game for once, oh and it runs in 1080p also :D

The worst console ever made, its pathetic. Forza 3 can kick GT out of the water, and let the PS guys come and enjoy a decent racing game for once, oh and it runs in 1080p also :D You're obviously getting confused between upscaled and native. Forza 3 is not 1080p native, it's scaled from 720p. The 360 will upscale every game to 1080p even if it's 720p or less before outputting to the TV. The PS3 for most games will output the correct resolution of the game to the TV and let it upscale - Some PS3 games will uspcale themselves, MGS4 was one. There isn't really much difference between both methods, in fact your TV will upscale better in some cases anyway. RE5 is a good example of this, let the 360 upscale it to 1080p and you'll get tons of screen tearing, put the 360 in 720p mode and let your TV upscale and there's no tearing. However 95% of the time there's no issues, no difference. Very few games run at 1080p so far this generation. As for this topic yes Forza 3 looks to be one of the best looking 360 games so far, but the GT5/Forza 3 console wars on this board and the web are becoming unbearable. Everyone facing off two unreleased games, it's rather funny :p Forza 3 looks like it's going to be awesome, people should be focussing on that potential rather than arguing about what's better between two games we haven't played and haven't even see that much of. GT5 we pretty much haven't seen anything from at all.
