Had a quick go over the weekend and I didnt like how little control you have over your own creatures, I remember going afk for like 5 minutes to come back and noithing really had changed lol.

I have this game, it's improved ALOT since the release, all major connection problems are fixed. Controlling the General's summoned minions are easy once you get the hang of it. If you don't like controlling those, then play a Assassin character. Quite a fun and awesome game.

I purchased this game last Friday and to be honest I'm regretting it right now. It seems that people who have been around a while have a huge advantage over new players with their favor items. I'm continually getting creamed in online matches and looking around it seems I'm not the only one who thinks this way. Any suggestions for a new player?

Theres a few things, first off what demigod do you play as? Each requires a unique approach. A good start for any though is Branded Armour, 1 health potion (the cheapest one) and a teleportation scroll. Don't be aggressive early game unless you are Regulus or someone like Sedna who can risk it. the forums at www.demigodthegame.com have a strategy forum where you can learn some great starts for the individual demigods. Also, yeah this game has a large learning curve (like DOTA which it was based off it), but once you get the hang of it you get better and better. Oh and if you can't do crap with your demigod and are just sucking horribly, pour all your money into citadel upgrades, you can easily win if you overwhelm them with troops.

I started out playing Unclean Beast, but recently switched to Oak and I'm having a little more success with him. Success as in with Oak I'm not dieing the 10+ times that I was with Unclean Beast and managing to kill enemy demigods.

I do like the play style of the game it's just really unforgiving of tiny mistakes. I'll look through that forum. Thanks for the tips.

Oak is one of the best, in my opinion. Make sure you put points into shield (can save your ass if you cast it as a Torchbearer's fireball is coming at you, it's all about timing), and also the move that increases your damage, and gives you even more if you have spirits.
