Is Team Fortress 2 still good online fun?

Recommended Posts

Hello

I asked this question a few years ago, but is TF2 still popular with online gaming? I wasted months of my life on Medal of Honour AA playing online. I prefer the real to life guns and stuff but with the official thread being so popular, I guess it is still going strong?

I liked MOH-AA as I used gamespy and simply joined a server and played. I could drop in and out when I liked and loved every minute of the game. Is TF2 the same, or should I just buy the latest MOH and stick with what I know?

I also don't want to waste the money buying it if it's going to be replaced soon.

Thanks

It's still really fun and the community is quite large and still very much vibrant. Valve are also still supporting the game with new content and have laid out many plans for future free updates. Just whatever you do don't buy the XBOX version the PC version is the only one worth buying, this is not a dig against the consoles but rather the lack of updates the XBOX version of the game has received it is still very far behind the PC version with relation to downloadable content.

I don't think TF2 is fun anymore. On release it was the best shooter I'd played since Day of Defeat (pre StG nerf). But every update since has just added more and more cheap kill options. The game has become very frustrating :(

Hell, yes. It's more than fun. It's super fun. Seriously though, it's really fun. Valve updates the game every now and then with new items and maps. The community is vibrant and full of life. You're bound to find a server full of players no matter what time it is. I don't think Team Fortress 2 is going to be replaced anytime soon. The game still has life in it. You should definitely buy it. Anyway, click here to check out the 'Meet the [insert class here]' videos.

Gotta agree with the above posters - I have many games, but TF2 is still my favourite after a year and a half. Valve's additions have hugely improved the game, giving you more and more variety in play experiences.

One simple answere; YES ;D

And it's beeing updated all the time, new weapons and hats(!)

After the removal of the achievements requirement for getting new stuff, it's even funnier :)

I was going to pretty much say that but someone else did it for me.

I find TF2 to be one of the most fun FPS games I have ever played. It does get a little frustrating once and while (nemeses, can't help but get a little worked up :p ) but the classes, maps, and updates make tf2 fun to play over and over.

I remember playing MoH AA a long time ago... I tried it again not too long ago and couldn't believe the graphic quality. It seemed way better back then. Was a really fun game though. =x

I played some TF2 yesterday and today for the first time in a couple of months, and it is still great. The updates that Valve has made are pretty awesome, and they've done a good job of adding some longevity to the game. Typically I would be tired of a multiplayer FPS by now, but TF2 has found a way to stay fresh.

Another thing I like about TF2 is the fact that the community seems to be fairly decent. TF2 is the only multiplayer game where I can actually work together with people on public servers and form some strategies.

I really need to start playing this game on my PC. I bought the Orange Box so I could do just that, but just have not had the time or when I have had the time I have played something else.

Thing is though I really just have never played, so the few times I did play I was really just obviously a noob and just felt I was playing against people who have played forever. Other thing is not sure why but it really is the one and only game that does not seem to run smooth on my setup if I put it to high resolution. I am sure I can fix that though as everything else literally runs butter smooth, so has to be something weird making it not run great.

It'll be the first game I have bought in years and as I have a bit of spare money at the moment, I think i'll just buy it :)

Cheaper with the boxed version though, ?14 on Steam, ?10 on amazon.
