Neo003
Umm, how can you be bored of the PS3???All of the great exclusives are coming out on PS3 this year: Uncharted 2, God of War, Gran Turismo, and much more. You get amazing free services like Playstation Home, so unless you like spending money, there's no reason to buy a 360 You get a Blu-Ray player, which is the next-gen for Hi-Definition. And gaming on a PS3 is leagues better due to the Cell processor, the extra storage space on the Blu-Ray discs, and the 6-cores that the PS3 has. Just look at Killzone 2, it's been named the best FPS shooter, and it's PS3 exclusive. You're like the car salesman I met when I was in a market for a new car. ToneKnee
Don't even bring the Cell processor into this. The PS3 and Xbox360 balance themselves out. And to say "much more" exclusives coming out, there not, most games are going to be multi-platform. The Xbox360 has a bigger library of games and has a far better online gaming system which people are happy to pay for. The Blu-ray player is fine, but he is talking about games, not Blu-ray. If he is bored of the PS3, then he's bored of it, just by getting another console doesn't mean he is giving up on the PS3. He'll have best of both worlds, and both consoles are better than a single one. Now put that in your pipe and smoke it.

PricklyPoo
I'd have a hard time recommending an Xbox 360. Ever since I got one I realized it was a complete waste of money, as my pc has much better graphics and it is just much more fun to play since there are way more options. The only time I play my xbox is if some buddies are over and we just want to entertain ourselves for a few minutes. The whole system is a complete rip off. Microsoft makes it pretty clear that they are going to rape you up the *** on every possible thing, since you have no choice if you want any functionality out of your Xbox. The fact that you have to pay every month for the Live service is what really ****es me off, considering there isn't even a web browser which every other recent console has...for free. Cloud Constructors
^ I've been thinking just go out and get a high end PC that will do everything for me and simplify alot of things for me since it will all be in my bedroom and I still live with mom and dad - ha. BTW made up my mind going with a gaming PC that I can use for my music, games, pictures, data, movies, etc I'm going to pick up the new LED LCD for PCS when it comes out next month from Samsung Edited June 7, 2009 by Hanif
Fid
I think if you have the money, either an Xbox 360 or Gaming PC is a good decision - I have both and at the moment use my PC more. I do love my gaming PC and at the moment it can handle anything I throw at it (oh, apart from The Sims 3 and it's laggy camera :D) and as you mentioned, you can do much more on a PC rather than just play games so it's handy in that respect. It's also nice playing with a keyboard and mouse, rather than a controller all the time. (You can plug in the Xbox 360 controller though, quite a few games now support it). I definitely recommend using Steam! It doesn't cost *that* much personally, if I think back, so far it has cost me around ?750ish so far to build it (first with a 8800GT, then a GTX 275 and also include a ?100 case in that figure). So yes, nice decision there!

Yes Nintendo risked something new and it did pay off to an extent but to say it was a sucess (in terms of keeping Nintendo fans happy) You have to be joking. The Wii is the most ovrrated console in history. Most only buy it for the included mini-game bundled which is WiiSports and nothing else. You can count the best games on one hand easily and that is saying something. I Hanif wants to 'not be bored' then going to get a Wii will only makes things ALOT worse. Getting a 360 or a High-End PC will keep him entertained as 360 has lots of great games out and coming and a PC you can do so much on.
stezo2k
I love my 360, the games selection has such a range and the controller works so well for FPS and sports games. when it comes to power i wouldnt say one was more powerful than the other, i havent seen any games look significantly different on either console. only thing that lets it down is lack of bluray I also have a PS3 which only gets used for multimedia, the upscaling is fantastic. i also use it for bluray P.S this is somebody that works for sony :)

Boz
Hanif, as an owner of 3 Xbox 360s now and a PS3 60gb I would say that Xbox 360 is much better entertainment device. I love the fact that I paid $199 for it and I get Media Center Extenders, cool online access and rental services through XBL or Netflix on each and every machine. I have an Xbox 360 in my bedroom, my home theater room and my living room. I play most games on Xbox 360 that are multiplatform just because most people I know as well have an Xbox 360 and the online experience is definitely much better compared to PS3. PS3 is just still unfinished software and online features wise. The fact is that I turn on my PS3 very little these days. Before I used it for Blu-ray more, but now I have a standalone Blu-ray player that bitstreams HD audio directly to my AVR and I really don't turn on PS3 for Blu at all. With this being said, PS3 is a solid overall entertainment device too. It can output HD audio (Xbox 360 can't), it definitely has some positives but the fact is that I only turn it on for some exclusives and they are way too far and between. I agree with you, Uncharted 2 is coming this year or I got Infamous (still haven't played it) but other games are coming in 2010 and the fact is that it will most likely collect dust for you as it does for me until new exclusives come out. My advice is this. Forget about Uncharted 2 for now.. I would say sell PS3 now so you can get around $200-$300 for it, get the Elite Xbox 360 and by next year or even later this year (towards Holidays) I'm pretty sure Sony will havec to lower the price of PS3 to $299. So by next year you'll have a cheaper PS3, Uncharted 2 will be like $30 and you'll have God of War 3 and GT5 (maybe). The point is that you really won't miss PS3 games that much because Xbox 360 has enough to satisfy you with plus Forza 3 comes out this year that will be equally impressive and great game as GT5. I think essentially that a person should have both if you really want to experience some of these Sony exclusives but you should take advantage now of the price and sell it and then buy the PS3 again when it's cheaper. It is coming.

ToneKnee
To the people arguing about the Xbox 360 and having to pay for online gaming, you don't have to pay monthly, you can pay annually. Also, even a bigger point, an Xbox360 (even with Xbox Live) will still be FAR cheaper than a gaming PC. And with Microsoft wanting to keep the Xbox360 alive for 10 years, I don't think your gaming PC will last that long, much less play high end games in a year or two. Skulltrail
I'd recommend a gaming pc if you are into computer. If you are a programmer, computer specialist, graphics designer, etc, you should get a gaming PC. It will help you in both interests. Otherwise I suggest the Xbox. Another alternative is, getting both! :)
George P Global Moderator Posted June 7, 2009 Global Moderator Share Posted June 7, 2009 Sure a gaming PC is better graphics wise, and so on, but it's more of a pain. with a console you know things will work, just pop in the disc and play. With the PC you could run into some problems, or your system might not be up to snuff. PC cost is also higher right now. A good gaming PC that will last you at least 2 years from the time you buy it will cost way more than either console. Personally I love my 360, and I game on the PC as well. But the PC is better at some specific things, like FPS or RTS games. for others or even thsoe 2 the PC does well, I still find no trouble to playing them on my 360. Now as for the PS3, here where I live, it still costs way too much for 3 or 4 exclusives i'd think about playing. So no thanks. As for the "you get bluray" debate, first off, I don't watch that many moves, and buy even less now (I used to buy lots on VHS and DVD years ago). Besides I've seen other bluray players for less being sold here compares to the PS3. So the argument that the ps3 is a good cheap bluray player doesn't hold up anymore. Spartan Erik
Sell the PS3 as there won't be as many "exclusives". 360 is already getting MGS5, along with FFXIII. Additionally, that new handsfree motion control by Microsoft that was demo'd at E3 will probably be a great contender to the Wii. I still personally prefer a gaming PC, but seeing as how you already have a home theater setup, I suggest a 360. XBL can be cheap if you know where to look.. on Newegg they occassionally sell year long subscription cards for half price
Beau Bridges
I would go with the 360. Gaming PC's take too many time consuming upgrades to keep up with. Get the 360 and you'll be good to go.
1337ish
I just got a PS3 and I already have a 360. Its okay but the 360 has such a superiour dashboard/gui as well as a much better controller for fps action. My hand gets sore using the ps3 control and I have had the ps3 crash/freeze and reboot a ton as well.
