First official MS video of Natal being played live by celebrities

As I stated above, Microsoft already stated it wouldn't cost more than their cheapest console.

If this is more than $75 it won't sell that well, no matter how much you hype it.

Just look at Wii - it costs $250 ;)

You can't see the difference between an entire system and an add-on? Add-ons rarely sell in huge numbers, expensive add-ons less so.

I'm sure if AB wasn't hanging out with the honeys and by the pool right now, he'd remind you of the millions of Eye Toys which were sold

And plenty of people buy flight sticks and racing wheels. Price is justified if the product is worth it

I'd be shocked if it isn't bundled with a game also anyway. Things like that ball wacking game they showed would be a pretty good candidate for a mini game in a title akin to Wii Sports or whatever.

If Nintendo can sell millions of Wii Fits then I'm sure MS could sell a lot if they play their cards well.

Not when this add-on could easily replace an entire system. :)

I guess i'm just not big on the motion control side of gaming. though it seems they did an awesome job with it. just doesn't really interest me.

Exactly, look at the WiFi adapter, costs less than the X360 Arcade.

cause rock band and guitar hero world tour sold so poorly.....I hear what you saying but in this day and age people seem to want to dispose of their income. If the games are good enough and it's marketed right people will buy it.

To be fair though when comparing anything to those titles you have to remember that people are ultimately buying those with the game. It's not like someone released a guitar accessory and developers then began developing for it.

For Natal to be successful it'll need an app or multiple apps that really grab people into the concept, and ideally one of those apps should be included with the hardware itself.

true. I imagine they'll go Wi-like and bundle that e3 demo of the painting and the ball game they had. While fun for 10 minutes they don't look like anything that's worth speneding $50 for.

First you have to ignore the early life of these games, where the Guitar Hero bundle was often $70, so you got a game with a $20 (and maybe max $40 add on). So the genre had legs before Rock Band shipped and loads of content as well. Second you have to ignore the massive appeal of the core of that game, music. Third, note that due to the nature of content and that wide spread love of music, Rock Band/Guitar Hero crossed the line between hardcore and casual gamers allike, something Natal will have to do to be relevant at all (and something that is not proven by the existance of useless celebrities playing a demo at E3, generally playing poorly I might add). Natal has to sell a hell of a lot more than Rock Band to be relevant. And the PS3 motion contorl system has even more hurdles to overcome.

Finally, if people were just looking to dump their money then everyone would have the thumb keyboard for the 360 and the official premium headset for the PS3, less expensive with immediate benefits for most people. MS really should have held on to this for next generation and just had it out of the box.

Why are you so vocal about this tech only when it comes to the 360 Bob?

Don't see you complaining about the PS3's...Anyone would think you're trolling.

I thought it was too good to be true at first.

Watching those videos showed this thing in a live environment. That's good to see. I think the upside of this is huge - it's kind of hard to knock it now. If the 360 ever got Blu-ray support. Man..Sony would be in a pile of ****. Then again, the announcement of 1080p video could also be nice way to bypass this issue. Anyways - this thing could definitely start showing up in gyms, hospitals, maybe even schools. If they just integrate this into all the 360's and the price stays the same - they'd make a lot of money. The fact that it can "figure-out" the gender is creepy...

Man, MS seems to be firing on all cylinders. They got Windows 7, Zune HD, Xbox 360, Bing..if Windows mobile 6.5/7 can make it happen..

While I see your point, I think Microsoft's idea with this is to get the market wet with this peripheral this generation, and do as well as possible, and then they'll probably bundle it with or build it right into their next console, at which point the marketing blitz ensues.

I think it'll still do pretty well as a peripheral, however, assuming they do wait until they have a lot of software support before releasing it like they say they will.

Um... It really couldn't.

I do like the idea of this, and I can't wait to see what they can come up with to take advantage of it, but I really would rather have a force feedback wheel for racing games, and something resembling real peddles.

that's why i specifically focused on the boxsets. regardless of life span people still spent huge money for the game. You're 2nd point assumes Natal is limited to just one specific genre. They can come out with a Natal music game and that would make it a masssively appealing game according to you. You're trying to limit the motion sensing to one specific genre, when all it has to do is sell a little in each genre and it probably can be considered a success.

you can't compare non-game enchancing accessories to something like this. The keyboard and the headset don't fundamently change the way you interact with the game, whereas a person playing a boxing game with Natal is going to have a completely differenet exp than one without Natal.

I never tried to limit motion sensing to any genre, I just don't see any proof it will be as broad as you are implying. And if it's more than about $80 it won't sell.

Felicia Day

She's mighty cute but she sure looks like a spass doing that - With some dignity woman, with some dignity

That made me think this would be PERFECT for single player fighting games. I need to stress single player though, for the obvious reasons.
