First official MS video of Natal being played live by celebrities

The Jimmy Fallon clip sold me totally. As if the Milo demo wasn't enough, when he played Burnout I was like, omg awesome.

For someone who has played games since 1980 or so, and seeing how the Wii has done (I won't comment on the Wii's motion control though, heh) Project Natal has so many possibilities it isn't funny. It isn't QUITE virtual reality, but it's pretty darn close to me. Imagine a fighting game being played online with this, you could actually do the moves yourself! (might look a bit funny though)

Yup, this is what I dreamed the Wii would be and what they showed in the trailers prior to launch (think the Red Steel video).

Natal actually makes it a reality

It's totally mesmerizing. Truly unique experience that not only expands the idea of how we play games but also creates alternative ways of interacting with our xbox or PCs (since it will be available on Windows too).

If they release Natal by end of 2010 or so, I am pretty sure it will be a game changer for home entertainment and Wii and PS3 won't stand a chance anymore. Microsoft will have both hardcore and casual gamers and if they revamp the Xbox 360 UI to work with Natal and your PC, it's going to be unbelievable.

i think that this should make those silly dance mats obsolete ...why be restricted to a 2d bunch of buttons on the floor when the game sees your every move?

i also hope that they add in prop support , if they can simulate a driving wheel without having a driving wheel, then just about anything should be able to stand in for a driving wheel... right now the system seems to be tolerating things like the name tags swinging from people's necks, but i wonder if its possible to recognize and track things that people are deliberately holding

but i dont know how i'll enjoy looking at a screen when im moving my body, its gonna feel like watching myself on camera or something.... to me it would only feel complete if i get stereo glasses with it

and one more thing... since the camera captures information in 3d, why would we still need a seperate 3d avatar for ourselves (like the one in the 'bam! here it is' demo) , when it already has the true 3d data of our bodies?

In this case I think it's more for convenience sake, and apparently the 360 camera's internal processor is feeding what amounts to a skeleton to the 360. It provides the "animation" but not the model. That doesn't mean that the 360's software can't take advantage of the camera independently to create models and maps, but that isn't a function that the motion sensing infrared camera serves.
