Vice
Neowin only allows discussion on OSX86 on non-Apple hardware if you are using a legitimately purchased copy of Leopard and using hacks to get it working. Using an already hacked copy illegally distributed online is something that Neowin does not support and will get you warned. However I will assist you in one area and that is getting WiFi to work. The best way is to take out the WiFi card that is in your current notebook and replace it with one that shares the same chipset as a MacBook / MacBook Pro / iMac or Mac Pro. One of the cheapest and easy to attain cards is the BroadCom BCM94321MC it is a 802.11n card (both 2.4 and 5Ghz ranges) it is usually shipped within the Mac Pro but works fine in Notebooks that support the standard PCIe connector. So make sure your card is not a PCI one and you can get this to replace it. It is fully supported by Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.8 and Mac OS X Leopard so you don't need to load any hacked kexts to get it functional, it works out of the box. Many Linux distros also support this card and Broadcom have drivers for all the latest Windows versions and of course Apple distribute Windows drivers for it on the Leopard Disc for Bootcamp. I picked my own BroadCom BCM94321MC up from Ebay for about ?20 GBP including shipping.
Gary2MBz
Sadly my mom can barely earn money since her pay was cut here in the states. Like I said I don't mind if I have to be ethernet only but if there is an avaiable kext to make it work then thats good. I'm basically asking if anyone has gotten it working similarly to a Macbook pro if not better. Any kernel panics or freezing because I've read on InsanelyMac that someone had slight problems with the USB ports not working but fixed by reboot. Any good word on battery life, better or worse? Some people reported fried battery because of proper drivers missing and maxing out for nothing. I'm willing to do as much as I need to whether or not I screw up my 7. I am ready to try it out if anybody has positive experiences. I wanna confirm my research here.
