Class
Hey everyone! I had some files, which I couln't delete from my trash, so it stayed always full. I searched with google, and found this: terminal ? rm -rf ~/.Trash/* Now it's acting like dead, I can't access it anymore, does nothing. I downloaded a script, called Force Empty Trash 1.0, also that gave me a message like operation didn't happen. Now latest, SuperEmptyTrash app is also saying this. What happened? ...how can I restore Trash system? =/ Oh, and once in a while I had this issues back, so then I used muCommander to enter the .Trash folder and deleted with SHIFT + DELETE button, it worked...and somehow now I can't access anything anymore in my User forlder. Please help! Thanks in advance.
MasterC
Have you rebooted?
Class
Have you rebooted? Yes, I did and it's still acting the same. Trash is on my dock, and still has those rubish files in it. I also tried with OPTION KEY + empty trash, due to I read it's means to force deleting of files, but also not really working! :(
MasterC
That's odd. I use the same command when I get stuck files. Have you tried remaking the trash folder?
Class
That's odd. I use the same command when I get stuck files. Have you tried remaking the trash folder? How can I do that with command line? But as I sad, the trash is there on my dock, and also when I enter my user folder with muCommander (.Trash folder), but it's un accesable, at least that what's the commander is saying! Any other idea?
MasterC
mkdir ~/.Trash/ and then chmod go= ~/.Trash You might have to throw "sudo" in front of the commands to get them to go through. Then restart Finder by holding down Option and right clicking the Finder icon and clicking Relaunch.
Class
mkdir ~/.Trash/and then chmod go= ~/.Trash You might have to throw "sudo" in front of the commands to get them to go through. Then restart Finder by holding down Option and right clicking the Finder icon and clicking Relaunch. OK, so another status ? /Volumes/OSX/Users/class/.Trash ? this is there and is working, the only problem, it's empty. So the question is, why do I have it on my dock full (with 2 rubush files, exactly to say folders which appear as files now)? In my root there is a .Trashes, that one is still unaccesable. Any more ideas? =/EDIT: I cheched all my HDDs, because I have more which are in NTFS, due to I use Ubuntu-Mac-Vista in triple boot. That this .Trashes folder is on every disk "unaccesable" by muCommander!i>
