sn00pie
I'm about to purchase a Xbox 360, I'm still deciding between a Pro and a Arcade model, but anyhow, I will be picking up a few games when I buy it. What do you guys think is the best racing game available on the X360 right now? Forza 2? PGR4? Test Drive: Unlimited?
Brad.
Definitely NOT Race Pro, I just played a game to suffice my racing needs as I let my friend borrow GRiD (which is awesome!). I'm buying Forza 2 next week though.

Starbuck84
For me, atm it's still Forza 2 and Dirt. Dirt because I love the Colin McRae series, and I enjoy the realism in Forza. Race pro also seems a very nice race game, but haven't tried it yet.
Brian M. Veteran Posted June 7, 2009 Veteran Share Posted June 7, 2009 Forza 2 easily. Grab Burnout Paradise too - it's fairly cheap now, and while it's not a hardcore racing game, it's damn fun online :p.

Forza 2? PGR4? Test Drive: Unlimited? Personally I think GRID is the bet racing game out there, it's very arcade like. But no real car customization like in NFS: Pro Street (tracks are too repetitive). Also a very fun super arcade type game is Burnout Paradise. I would say Forza 2 if you want super realism, PGR4 is more arcade like, but also has a fair amount of realism.
mad_onion
Grid no question but it does kinda depend what kinda of racing you like arcade or sim. grid is a arcade style racer. I wouldn't buy either without downloading a demo of them off xbox live first...
Woj
My favourite racing game on the 360 at the moment is PGR4, I find it to be a nice balance between arcade and sim. It's also very detailed (car interiors etc) and the weather effects are great. Forza 2 is a good sim with great damage, but the graphics are somewhat lacking and the jaggies are horrible. I don't find it as fun as PGR4 either. Can't wait for Forza 3 however, that looks great. Test Drive was a really fun game, but it's getting a bit dated now. I hear great things about GRID, but I found it to be too arcade-like for my liking.
Boz
If you are in sim racing..Forza 2.. if you want super fun factor with crazy graphics and awesomeness GRID hands down. GRID is still one of my most favorite racing games on any platform.
NienorGT
Forza 2 is the best racing game on 360 hands down, but this is a Sim Racing. If you want more arcade, Grid and PGR4 are great. You mentioned TDU, this game is awesome by the fact that you can free roam in all the Oahu island. I had great time just free roaming with the in-car camera, but as for races, they are annoying. Get TDU if you can get it for cheap, but don't pick it over others.
Sethos
I'd say both Forza 2 and PGR4. They are both excellent games that will provide you with hours of fun. I'd stay away from GRID though, the cars steer like Vaseline covered boats on land which completely destroys the game. Test Drive Unlimited is also great for a few hours of fun but it quickly becomes a bit "meh" plus the car sounds are pathetic, so perhaps a rental suggestion. sn00pie
Does Forza 2 have a in-car view? That's pretty much a deal breaker for me, as I'm coming over from the GT series :D Right now it's either Forza 2 or PGR4 as my top picks.
Boz
^ interior view in Grid is by far the best one I've seen before GT5 or Forza 3.

sn00pie
What demos are available on the online store as far as racing games go? Looks like I will need to pickup a wifi adapter too :(
JMann Veteran Posted June 7, 2009 Veteran Share Posted June 7, 2009 What demos are available on the online store as far as racing games go? Looks like I will need to pickup a wifi adapter too :( From the top of my head, PGR4/GRID & Forza demo's are available on Live. I personally love all of them, they all have things which are good/bad about them. I think PGR4 is something you just pick up every now and then but GRID has more race types and some amazing graphics. If you want pure Gameplay, and constantly want to tweak your suspension & tyres then Forza would be the one to go for. (Y)
raider360
I'd say Burnout is the best arcade racing game. If you want a sim - try Forza2. :)
Rookas
I'd stay away from GRID though, the cars steer like Vaseline covered boats on land which completely destroys the game. That's funny, my one complaint with Grid is that the cars have almost too much grip. Regardless of that I still think it's the best racer out there. Burnout is a great game also, but nothing beats the intensity of Grid.

Well, could be a different game I was thinking of but I can tell you for sure, the handling in GRID is what ruined the game for me - I just remember it felt totally off and wasn't even remotely fun to play. Sethos
GRID is definitely my favorite racing game, but it all depends on if you like to play arcade or sim.. GRID Added a different meaning to Arcade. I enjoy playing Arcade racers, very much so but GRID was too much, the handling was way over the top "crazy" and completely destroyed the game. I don't agree, I found it to be more fun to play than most racers because of the controls, it was quite forgiving and thus more laidback to play, which is exactly what I like about games. :p The rewind is also one of the best things GRID brought and I'm very glad Forza 3 is adopting it as well. Dead_Monkey
Looks like the consensus agrees with me that Forza 2 is the top sim car racing game on 360. Burnout is really fun, but I mainly played it on PS3. If you're looking for alternative racing experiences, I suggest Pure. Criminally overlooked and fun. Most games have demos on XBLA on 360. The games that don't are few and far between. Gears of War and Gears of War 2 are the biggest titles that I can remember not having demos, because Epic is a really small shop that prefers not to split their team at the end of development. If you're into the open world racing of Burnout Paradise, you might be attracted to the mission-based racing in Crackdown or in Test Drive Unlimited. TDU is pretty much Burnout Paradise before Burnout Paradise. Graphically it's nothing special, but it did the open world, mission driving, persistently online thing well before anyone else considered it.
