Guest Quick Reply
It's hard to tell on neowin if the person that your posting to is male or female, which makes things very confusing when being careful what you say to other members, this is confusing me constantly, so can we just make things easier by being able to put a "Sex: " field under "Location: ", configurable in the preferences (perhaps a dropdown menu with "Male", "Female", "Undisclosed(default)" and "Other(I've seen 'other' on other boards and it's very funny :D)"? Keldyn
No. That would encourage members to treat a member based on their gender. Pfft. What am I saying. You guys already do that....

You guys already do that.... It's funny that you poped up in this thread, because honestly (im being really honest here), when I joined neowin, I thaught that "Keldyn" was a Girls name, no offense but it's true and I hope that you dont get mad or anything. Keldyn
None taken. I get that a lot unfortunately, but irrespective of that, a members gender is not important. It should not dictate how we treat them.
Guest Quick Reply
I personally wouldn't treat someone differently in respect to saying something like "Come here sexy", it's just that i feel silly when I refer to somone as a "he" when half the time it could be a "she" besides, if sexist remarks are made, the "sex: " field could always be removed to how it is presently. well that's pretty much my whole opinion about it. sphere
If you add a 'Sex' field you will need to create a new class (in addition to m/f) for a me and presumably a few other members around here  :trout:
Guest Quick Reply
aco: All the women here flaunt their gender as far as you know, it might be just me, but I'm pretty sure that there are more than 10 girls on neowin. sphere: I suggested "perhaps a dropdown menu with "Male", "Female", "Undisclosed(default)" and "Other(I've seen 'other' on other boards and it's very funny :D)" so your covered in my idea :p oh and if default is selected(undisclosed), than the "Sex:" field shouldn't display at all and their profile would be as it is now (Y)

nacs
I think if your nick doesn't make it clear what sex you are (females tend to use a more 'feminine' name--no offense at all intended), and you really want to flaunt it, then just stick it in your sig or something. :)
