Dane
I have a new pc I am curious to how it will play GTA 4 Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.8ghz 4gig Ram. Nvidia 9500 512mb Windows Vista 64bit my resolution is 1400x900 but i'd most likely play it in a lower res.
Unimatrix Xero
not very well, im guessing you might just scrap 25 fps as this game needs a good quad core to get anything out of it, also your gfx card is a little low as well, i would hae said a 9800 would be the best card

Beau Bridges
It'll be able to play it, not sure how well - but playable most likely. See for yourself if you can play it. http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/bonus...mp;submit2.y=
Dane
Thanks for the link. On youtube there are videos of the game, people with the same video card, although slower processor, and less ram, it plays well in the video enough for me to be happy with. Yusuf M. Veteran Posted June 8, 2009 Veteran Share Posted June 8, 2009 With hardware like that, you'll have a better gaming experience with the X360 version of GTA IV.

ToneKnee
Really? Yep. The port to the PC is crap compared to the Xbox 360 and the PS3.
deletedxyz
Yep. The port to the PC is crap compared to the Xbox 360 and the PS3. I don't know about that. You can just get a gamepad for the PC and play it. I played it at 1920x1200 with everything on very high with a Logitech Wireless Rumblepad 2. Unfortunately, I uninstalled the game half way through because it became boring.
Yusuf M. Veteran Posted June 9, 2009 Veteran Share Posted June 9, 2009 Really? Yes. The PC version of GTA IV doesn't perform well on today's hardware. Rockstar themselves said that the higher settings are "reserved for future computers".
Blackhearted
Yes. The PC version of GTA IV doesn't perform well on today's hardware. Rockstar themselves said that the higher settings are "reserved for future computers". Which roughly translates to: "We don't want to do the work to make our game run as it should be able to. So we'll wait for new gear to cover our slack and make excuses while we wait." Guess it fits console devs though. It's how they roll when it comes to ports. kazuyette
Hmmm, I played it on my laptop at max settings... Please define max settings, because last time I checked with my rig ( a gateway laptop, same series as yours but quad core ), I couldn't play it at max settings with a 1920*1200 resolution witouth lag during major action. Maybe it was because I tried with a 32 bits Vista ( my laptop shipped with it ). I should try it again since I've switched to Vista 64.
Yusuf M. Veteran Posted June 11, 2009 Veteran Share Posted June 11, 2009 Hmmm, I played it on my laptop at max settings... My gaming rig can't run the game with decent performance at high settings, let alone max. I doubt your laptop can run the game maxed out with playable frame rates. Simply put, GTA IV is a bad console port.
Slammers
Some people consider 20fps per second "playing at max settings" lol
Unimatrix Xero
Hmmm, I played it on my laptop at max settings... haha on a laptop, pull the other one, if you can run GTA IV maxed out, and i mean with all the sliders to the right and everything on 'Very high' with your native screen res, i'll give you ?100,000,000. thats how confident i am that your laptop will not run GTA IV maxed out

deletedxyz
Well, I don't count fps. I got ~25 fps average at 1920x1200 with everything set to very high. I didn't tweak any of the sliders such as view distance. It was good enough for me since nothing stuttered and I couldn't see any visible lag even during explosions or crashing into 20 cars in downtown Liberty City. It's good enough for me. Yusuf M. Veteran Posted June 11, 2009 Veteran Share Posted June 11, 2009 Yep. Max settings implies every possible setting is set to its maximum, including the sliders. :p
