vask
-10,000 (take that!) :D Complaining about icons in Windows 7 is like complaining that the blue paint on your new Mclaren F1 is the same as last year's blue paint. It makes no difference where it counts. Just sayin`..... UI is an important aspect of an operating system's user experience. Icons come under UI. The analogy is also wrong, I wasn't compalining about leaving the old icons, I am complaing about the introduction of an inconsistency by changing over some icons and not the rest. If you want a car analogy, it's like styling a new model and only introducing the new style to a part of the car (say the front) and leaving the rest completely unchanged from last model's. It would look ugly/unfinished.
dr_crabman
If icons don't change then they have learned nothing from complaints about inconsistencies in vista. Having two completely different styles of icons is the biggest inconsistency in my view. It simply looks unfinished. Icons are one aspect. I agree that they're not perfect right now, but it's much too harsh to say that they learned nothing just because of that. There are a lot of small improvements regarding consistency, it's clearly getting better.

There are a lot of small improvements regarding consistency, it's clearly getting better. It was an overstatement on my part, I agree. However icons are too important to the overall look of an OS and an inconsistency in the icons is a lot more visible than most of the inconsistencies (such as the widths of the coloured bars in explorer windows/ie/wmp/photo) that existed in vista. As it is now, win 7 looks a lot more inconsistent than vista ever did.

Not too long to wait to find out now. ;) Good times a`coming.....

It is abit late in the day though. We will know soon enough I guess. I also wonder if we get a surprise on the level of dream scene in rtm. It is a little odd how they removed it and have not substituted with anything yet. If they weren't going to change it why did they bother removing it in the first place. I am sure some people found it useful.

vask
Probably because it was **** and they didn't feel like supporting it. What about hold'em, why remove that. Some of their decisions are a bit odd to say the least. Hold'em is definitely my most played game out of the vista games library.
hdood
I doubt Hold 'Em is the most popular Vista game, since most people don't have Vista Ultimate. As for why the extras weren't integrated into Windows, I don't know. Some of them (like Tinker, and maybe Hold 'Em?) were licensed from other people, and presumably the license didn't automatically extend to bundling it with a new OS. FaiKee
Well, I guess the mods can consider thread closing lol(good news for those who always shout this option.). zukona's copy is a SP1 on 7100RC version, they found it could be traced, and decided not to leak it. Lord Ba'al
http://kepfeltoltes.hu/090610/kTyvMyKaAX_w...ltoltes.hu_.jpg That's 7230 of the winmain-sp build trunk. It's only three days older than the already leaked 7227 from winmain-sp and thus only four days older than 7201 from win7ids :pinch: Worthless, and a Rtm Escrow build certainly won't come from the winmain-sp (or win7ids) build trunk. If you are referring to the notepad version from 7227 vhd leak then there is nothing suspicious about a notepad version being lower than the rest of the os. In vista sp2 the notepad version remained from sp1.

08993
Well, 6.1.7229.0.winmain.090604-1901 will leak today. A significant build because it's the last build MS will distribute externally. 7230 will not be leaked due to it's engineer signature.
uberv
7229 should be RTM-escrow,since RTM candidates will be internally tested only in the next few days.

Chin up, vask, there is still hope yet. There is a whole internal-only period coming up here. If I were doing the development that's where I'd finalize all the eye/ear-candy, where no one outside will see it. And if I'm wrong, you can start a whole new thread to discuss how wrong I was. :D
