Xbox Live Service Maintenance

Recommended Posts

On Tuesday, June 16th from 7:01AM UTC (12:01 AM PST) for up to 24 hours, Xbox Live will be offline for maintenance. As a result, Xbox LIVE and the ?My Xbox? section of Xbox.com will be unavailable, and the Xbox forums will be in read only mode (you won?t be able to post.)

The remainder of Xbox.com will be available with limited interruptions.

This service maintenance is to prepare for some of the recently announced features that will be available later this year.

Let me reiterate: When the service returns, you will not have any new functions or features. This is for scheduled maintenance only.

Nothing has been officially announced the last I heard.

Both the 15th and 25th have been floating around. 25th looks more likely with that photo from some magazine, but who knows!

looks like this is for the Facebook / Twitter integration, along with the other stuff.

Only to prepare for it, not to implement it.

IIRC these things wont be implemented until the fall update.

Wow it didn't hit me until I read that. Will we really not see the updates until the fall? I ask because MS will wait until literally the day before winter starts to release a "fall" update.

Historically microsoft have done 2 big xbox updates a year, one in spring and one in the fall.

Won't be seeing a spring update this year, you would of heard about it by now, not that you said they would. Think they're trying to move to 1 a year from the looks of it.

IIRC:

Spring 2006 added background downloads

Fall 2006 added MSN (I think)

Spring 2007 - Marketplace blade and achievement notification changes

Fall 2007 was mainly media (Divx, xvid etc)

Fall 2008 was the NXE

Anyone have the dates of the previous Fall updates?

I was googling for that and found this, which now is even funnier.

I think we have had one fall update in December. While googling I seemed to find one article that said that we have had a fall update in December. Others have said we have had some in November. I'm leaning toward the former.

To be fair, I think the fall fiscal quarter for them is Oct-Dec. Could be wrong though.

Yes and it is good that you mentioned that. Is it actually the business quarter or calender quarter?

I would guess they go by business quarter because, for one, it keeps things more organized internally, and also, even for free releases, it will all have some impact fiscally and needs to be reported as such. I'm sure there are other reasons too.

Just my guess, anyways.

I was just panicking. I had moved my Xbox and turned it on and had no connection. Then I remembered about this maintenance!
