RAID 0
The start button is a little too bright.
jshimmy3
I would have to agree that it is a bit bright but pretty nice nonetheless.
Jeff_MSWindows
I like the idea behind it, but agree that it is a bit too bright.
vip
It is a nice idea, but it is too bright and very distracting. If I used that as my start button I would find myself always looking down at the lower left corner .... just my thoughts :l
NeoXY
If it looked like that as I hovered over it and it pulsated or something, it'd be cool.
James Rose
I too FEEL that it's a bit too bright, but an interesting idea.

I just turned the brightness down a bit and will post the modified explorer.exe in a second...
jjrambo
Start Button should just like any other pin item on taskbar.
cyansky
I like where you were going with this, but I agree it is too bright as it is. Maybe try a blackhole! =)

RAID 0
Start Button should just like any other pin item on taskbar. I respectfully disagree. It needs to be a little different, how much different is up to the user.
Guest xiphi
Start Button should just like any other pin item on taskbar. It's a good thing you weren't involved in the design process.
Soldiers33
very nice, but like others sed a bit bright. hurts my eyes actually, especially when sitting in the dark and looking at it.

Dead_Monkey
Needs more lens flare. Lens flare is so five years ago. Now we use HDR lighting.

ozgeek
You need to think about design and useability. How are you going to describe that start menu to a beginner? Yours is too bright and to distracting. Basically just the Windows logo and no flashy flares is much better.

But most things would be better than the current one. It looks so dull and screams Vista, I'd be happier even with that one posted here.
theyarecomingforyou
Personally I like the idea of the Windows flag on it own, flaring when you hover / click. The idea posted in this topic is a bit over-the-top but could work if it were toned down a bit. The current orb looks pretty sloppy and is poorly defined... it needs to have edges with some contrast, like this: :p
Satchmo Bevins
Needs more cowbell. :p (Srsly, an interesting idea. Keep at it!!)
code.kliu.org
Start Button should just like any other pin item on taskbar. That's how things work in the world of Linux. And a great example of how you can have too much customization. Someone once accidentally removed the Linux start menu equivalent from their bar, and he had no idea how to get it back because he wasn't able to access the control panel without it. It ended up making Linux appear very user-hostile to this user. Or how in Win9x, the task bar was unlocked by default, which meant that a stray click-and-move might end up resizing the task bar, thus potentially resulting in a task bar that filled half the screen. MS actually got support calls about this from users who had no idea what they just did and had no idea how to undo it, and as a result, it was locked in later versions of Windows. Being able to remove the start menu would be a tech support and usability disaster.
