Leaking and Pirates

Recommended Posts

One may wonder why there are so many unprecedented ?leaks? of Windows 7 coming from M$ with so few (if any) apparent changes.

Wireshark (ex Ethereal) users may notice increase stealth activities to the M$ servers from built 7100 -> 7137 -> 7201.

In certain circles where members wear black hats, it is rumoured that the software juggernaut main aim is to purposefully leak single copies to ?reliable? sources to investigate how fast a ?pirated? copy would propagate around the globe.

Because all the ?testers? have genuine keys and communications are very open with M$, someone at the Redmond Headquarters may be sitting at a desk looking at a world map monitoring the ?leaks? spreading speed (in red colour?).

After all M$ attempts to eradicate piracy of their products is on top of their beta testing agenda, declaring war on software ?pirates? and the ?Slic masters? who made a big dent in their Vista profit margin.

Or maybe M$ is trying their hardest to please Windows 7 users and respond promptly to their whims.......

I knew this topic was crap as soon as I saw the M$ with a dollar sign. There is no conspiracy by Microsoft. End of topic.

That came across my mind. It's too farfetched and time wasting though.

About all one could say about Microsoft in this matter is it's granting of tacit approval by not issuing take down requests to the sites doing the leaking.

Beyond that, nothing.

It does build the hub-bub, all this leakyness going on.

Farfetched conspiracy theory. Tracking the spread of downloads would be of little use to them because the spread of pirated material is already very well documented. They are releasing interim builds to tech partners, and TAP testers, and evidently more of these are finding their way into the hands of leakers than usual.

The same conspiracy theories pop up everytime a build leaks and I think its a load of nonsense.
