Apple Finance...

Recommended Posts

...has anyone used this before?

I want to get a new Macbook Pro (17" one, through education store) and basically as the finance for 20 weeks is quite low (I worked out it's only an extra 80/100) thought I'd try and get it on that so I don't have to wait ages saving up.

Anyway, I meet all the criteria except the full time work one. Unlike last summer where I went full time, this time I'm not and just staying part time (about 16-20 hours a week or so). My wages is more than enough to cover the monthly apple payment. Reason for this, come September I'm going to be doing a full time paid placement (14k+) for a year, so can't go full time only for a little while.

One Apple guy I spoke to said it didn't really rely too much on work, more your credit rating (I've checked, I'm scored 999/999 and had several phone contracts in the past, ?1250 overdraft and never failed a credit check yet!) for the 20 week one.

Do you think they actually check with your employers? (Like to ask if you're part time or what?)

I mean come Sep 1st I'll definitely be full time... but just thought I'd say "yeah I'm full time now, here's my work address as you asked" and hope they don't check and just rely on the credit check?:pp

What do you think?

(For the record, I intend to pay it off early as soon as I get my first couple of placement work checks in!):DD

id be very surprised if they checked with your empoyer considering apple financing is really just a credit card with a fixed rate

They may check, but it's unlikely. Most financial providers simply check with the credit bureau for your credit information and a simple background check, and accept or decline the application. This is why it's easier to get a loan if someone co-signs, especially if they have an established credit history in good standing.

I'm also sure they tell you whether or not you've passed the credit checks on the phone... so unless they check with your employer later.

I mean, if they did find out I was part time at the moment, they could just cancel the whole thing and tell me off I guess. I would wait until September (when I can confidently say yes my work is...) but really need the laptop quite soonish!

I mean at the end of the day too, it's only about ?1600... not like a car, or mortgage or something like that! I've never ever missed a payment or gotten into debt yet!
