d4rk5ky
Will the x86 vs x64 threads ever end? IMO its personal choice on what you want to use. The way i see it is if your using 2gb of ram, then x86 is all you need, which MOST average PC users have anyway. Now obviously if your more of a hardcore PC nut then you want the latest technology and have a ton of ram that you will never use then x64 is the way to go. Personally iv tried x64 and barely notice any difference in speed so i just stuck with x86 and have no issues at all.
RCOO
Hmm. I need help. I'm planning on upgrading my system memory to 2GB/4GB. I run a x86 system and i don't intend to change that since i have no drivers for x64 system. Here is my memory page on SIW. I got 1 slot occupied with a 1GB memory as you can see. Can you tell me what size/frequency of ram i should buy? here's a print:
DerAusgewanderte
if your more of a hardcore PC nut then you want the latest technology and have a ton of ram that you will never use then x64 is the way to go. your statement was perfectly fine until you had to use "that you will never use". You couldn't resist making this unqualified statement? I think many people who have more than 4Gb of RAM know exactly what they need. Image processing in Matlab and a Molecular Modeling program together with Photoshop will easily grab 4-5 Gb of your RAM to work. Yes, it is possible to have all these programs open on two monitors. If you add a virtual machine or two you can even fill 9Gb without a problem. Again, if you remove that extra comment you are correct. Hmm.I need help. I am trying to sell kits both for notebook and desktop at the moment. Edited June 13, 2009 by DerAusgewanderte

Make sure you buy in 2x configuration for Dual Channel i.e. 2x 1GB = 2GB or 2x 2GB = 4GB

cropcircles
it will work with 64bit.. but you really need atleast 4GB of ram...you probably can get away with 2GB's as i have the same processor and 2 gigs and it runs okay. From what I've read more then 2GB is not really utilized?

I've been checking the sellers websites on my country and i found this: http://www.worten.pt/ProductDetail.aspx?pi...3&c=2654965 It's in Portuguese but i think you can check it's properties very well. Any questions ask me and i'll translate. I'm planning on buying 2 of those, replacing my current 1GB module and have 2X2GB... Making my PC run 4GB DDR2 ram.
