I just picked it up, and it's installing in the background as I type this. I'm a little peeved as I notice it has a Microtransaction model, but I'm hoping some people find a way around it. So how about you? Have you made any sims yet?
capr
used to play the first one and didn't like how your sims didn't really effect the outside world but i have been hearing lots of good things since then and might just give this a try.
Sethos
Tried the game not long ago, I had hoped they would take a bit of a gamble and change the recipe a bit ... It's just same ole?Sims with some polish and a new engine. Not that I blame them, it's a license to print money but still not fun to play, at all. Miuku.
It's just same ole?Sims with some polish and a new engine. On the positive side you can still kill all your neighbours and turn the entire place into a huge cemetery - I find it soothing.
mollick2
I'm not liking the create a sim too much. It seems a bit over combersome for the casual player. In the sims 2 it was easier to use and i didn't find myself spending a half hour on one sim. But I do like the open neighborhood better.
Lant
On the positive side you can still kill all your neighbours and turn the entire place into a huge cemetery - I find it soothing. Killing your sims and making a nice house was all I ever bothered to do with them. I wouldn't say soothing but it was interesting to have a maze of sofas getting set on fire and seeing what the sim would do.
Martyn
From when I have played it so far, it is basically The Sims 2. They have had a crazy amount of time to improve it, and technology has improved along the way, they should have delivered better.

The_Decryptor Veteran Posted June 12, 2009 Veteran Share Posted June 12, 2009 Some of the mods that have been released already are nice, there's one out that fixes story progression. Normally story progression causes the game to kill off or move out random families, and adds babies to random houses (One of the default families is a single person, who's gay, in one of my saves he ended up with a baby, in another he ended up with random room-mates who didn't know him). Of course now the neighbourhood slows down, less new young kids, but that makes more sense than them appearing out of nowhere. It also lets you change houses without destroying it (normally when you change houses it wipes out wishes and the inventories of all the sims as well as food in the fridge, with this mod it saves everything but the food), so it's easy to add custom sims to the neighbourhood, and them adjust them how you want (relationships, jobs, etc.) As for the graphics, they're better than Sims 2, and of course you can boost them via the driver control panel. Minifig
Holy jagged edges batman  Didn't up my settings yet.. was too busy making my character. After a few hours playing .. I figured I'd revisit the character creation screen.. Still a little bright because of the fact that the screenshots come off a wee bit dark, but this character actually LOOKS like me... somewhat.. and I'm the most proud of him so far. His hairs a little dark.. but I think he'll do.
Minifig
Lmao, my guy "over clocked" his computer, no speed difference but the graphics look better. His girlfriend got first dibs on the games after the difference:

The_Decryptor Veteran Posted June 15, 2009 Veteran Share Posted June 15, 2009 website please Doh. http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/inde...ic,15185.0.html Edit: Be warned, Sims 3 is a real pain when it comes to mods. It took me 3-4 attempts to get this mod working. In one case it crashed with a registry error, I started it right back up and it worked fine, it's magic really. The_Decryptor Veteran Posted June 16, 2009 Veteran Share Posted June 16, 2009 In case anybody's wondering about the graphics, here's a shot of one of my test families (The ghost came with the house) And here's a shot of what mod's can do. (This shot has no AA because I bypassed the launcher and got Steam to load the main app, the nvidia driver panel only applies the settings when it's started from the launcher)
