dave_the_scot
Hi I'm running the Windows 7 Build 7100 64bit RC and I would like to try out the OS X theme that is available from this URL but, after downloading and extracting it, you are left with various folders and files, can anyonewho has installed this and got it to work, please tell me exactly how to install this please and where the files need to go? http://keznews.com/5777_Windows_7_RC_Build...X_Theme_Leopard (Please detail order in which these files need to be installed)? I was thinking that perhaps the theme is not compatible with the Windows 7 64bit version? Regards
svnO.o
http://alkhan.deviantart.com/art/Leopard-O...RC-v2-123978540 I think the file related changes (dlls/explorer) can only be replaced on 32 bit version of Windows 7 RC. The style itself can still be applied though. You can get uxtheme patches from this site: http://www.withinwindows.com/ (which you'll need to apply custom themes) Edited June 12, 2009 by dlegend
DataCabbitKSW
Some of these new themes coming out are replacing icon and graphic resources inside of WIndows' system files (explorer.exe and others), so you need to excersize extreme care when making these changes. Ultimately there will be a better way of applying these. Until then, you have to be careful when applying anything more than sound/color/background theme changes. Those are easy and quick. Applying new system files is risky for several reasons. All that said, yes there are some pretty nifty themes being made by the community already for the Release Candidate of WIndows 7. Fluxii Media
Not bad. I wouldn't know how to install this though... but seems like it'd be cool for those who want the OSX look, but want the true power of W7.
