TheBlueRaja
Im running the RC of Windows 7 and it seems to sleep even when programs are running. For example, im converting an MKV to a DVD, or MP4. The transcoder is up and running, CPU is at 100% and the thing goes to sleep. Why does this happen? Anybody know how i can stop it from entering sleep when applications are running? +Xinok Subscriber² Posted June 13, 2009 Subscriber² Share Posted June 13, 2009 You could run this program while converting video. It will prevent your computer from idling to sleep. http://www.softpedia.com/get/Others/Miscel.../Caffeine.shtml Programs have to explicitly tell Windows not to enter standby. It doesn't matter if the program is using 100% CPU.
+InsaneNutter MVC Posted June 13, 2009 MVC Share Posted June 13, 2009 Go to control panel > hardware and sound > power options > change when the computer sleeps. You can set how long the computer has to be idle before it sleeps or just make it so it never sleeps.
Raa
I was watching a video and my system blanked the monitor. Not all apps prevent idling, unfortunately :(

Yeah, i know how to extend the time i just wondered why, when a program is running it enters sleep state.
