How to make an Apple iPhone application

Question

I am thinking of creating an iPhone/iPod Touch application, however I do not have previous experience with Objective C. My question is what is your experience in creating an iPod application, and have you ever managed to get your application accepted into the App Store? Also how did you find making the application, was it simple or difficult?

I have a game on the app store (Tangled), I just downloaded xcode and started playing with it. Before that I had extensive knowledge with other languages though (C/C++, Java etc etc)

Great question, that is something I wanted to do as well.

I just downloaded the SDK today and I was trying to make something really simple for now - like a How-To's guide. Most of the content will be text.

Do I need to know a lot of programming for that?

I've done development work with an enterprise account (which means we can self-publish our applications to people in the company or our clients without going through the app store).

I had done embedded systems development for linux-powered devices, macintosh programming, unix/bsd/linux server automation code, and I've got a BSc. in Comp Sci. I wouldn't say it's particularly hard compared to embedded systems work, but making something good takes a lot more skill than it does on Mac OS X.

Objective C and Cocoa aren't difficult language/framework to pick up, especially now with version 2.0, but it's got a decidedly different feel that .Net, MFC, or QT.
