After installing Win 7 RC1, Nero 8 no longer installs

Recommended Posts

When I try to install it, an error pops up saying, "Not a valid Win32 application." I downloaded it straight from Nero's site. Both my Windows 7 and Nero 8 are 32-bit. This worked perfectly fine on Vista. What gives?

I would say that's a bonus :p A feature rather than a bug. Nero has been horrible bloatware since version 4 or so, there are a lot of free softwares out there ImgBurn for one.

That said you are using an OS that is in beta, so you can't expect everything to work :)

Nero 7 working fine here on 7201!

I like Nero .. if you don't install most of the rubbish that comes with it and just go for the bare essentials, you won't get lumbered with all the bloat .. simple.

Get Imgburn, seriously.

+1

Nero really is the uber-bloat :x

Comparing the latest versions:

Imgburn 2.4.4.0: 2 MB

Nero 8 8.3.13.0: 225 MB

That's 223 MB of bloat :x :x :x

But it got even far worse in Nero 9:

Nero 9 9.4.13.2: 382 MB

Bloat almost doubled from 223MB to 380MB  :o :x

Nero 10 will probably fill an entire CD

Which is why many of us actually run Nero Lite or Nero Micro without all the crap inside.

Nero Lite 8.3.13.0: 32MB.

Either way its been running fine with every build of Win 7 so far.
