Macbook battery (or other power) problem...

Recommended Posts

A few days ago I noticed that my battery no longer was taking a charge. Even the little LED on the charger connector would no longer light up (orange when charging, green when full). Even with my mac plugged in, it will no longer turn on.

Does this sound like a battery problem or maybe a charger malfunction?

My macbook is only about 1 year old and stays plugged in quite a bit.

It's probably the charger that went kaput. Take it to an Apple Store if you can to try to get it sorted.

On a side note, I will never buy an Apple notebook ever again, I had so many problems with this piece of crap (which ones? Hmm, let's see: cracks on the casing, a visible annoying shadow in the middle of my screen, HD dying within 2 months of use, trackpad button not registering clicks and making a weird metallic noise, battery dying had only 190 cycles, and I calibrated it every month, even with a BRAND NEW battery my Magsafe charger refuses to charge it (light stays green, never orange), LCD backlight not coming on when waking from sleep (both in Windows and OSX), etc). Biggest mistake of my life was not purchasing AppleCare :(

Unfortunately, I live 2 hours from the nearest Apple Store and I don't know anyone that has a charger that I could try. I'd hate to buy a new charger only to find out that it wasn't the problem. The fact that it won't run even when plugged in seems to suggest that it is the charger and not the battery - agree?
