[Help] Unreal Tournament 2004

Recommended Posts

The PC is a P4 3.00 GHz with 1.5 Gig of ram etc

I have a friends PC that I had to reinstall because the HDD went bad. Basically Installed Windows XP SP3 plus all the updates, Anti Virus, dotnet frameworks and using the latest NVidia Drivers for the Geforce 7600GS graphics card (Yes I know!) After that I installed UTA 2004 Anthology.

The problem is really bad rendering and all sort of artifacts are visible. The game play is smooth with no jerkiness; everything is fine except for the weird lines and pieces of the map that come out at you in the wrong places! Please some help would be great! I am not a gamer and tbh I really have hit the wall!

Edit: Sorry forgot to add that I did check that the Graphics card is running cool (I actually mounted a fan on the heatsink) so no problems there! Also the games had been running perfectly on the same PC before!

Is the card OC'ed? If it is, check to make sure it's not too much.

If it's not, check your game settings. Try medium settings, lower the resolution a notch, kick the world details down a bit. Try going back to a previous video driver to see if that might help. Newer drivers are not always the better drivers.

Thanks for the reply! Everything is on standard settings, I also did not mention it but this also occures in other games not only in UTA. The reason that I did not mention it is that I see the problem as the same thing for all the different games, I could be wrong, but do not think so!

Also agree 100% about the drivers, I did try older ones to start off with but had the same problem!

Are you playing with any mods / mutators active? UT2004 is kind of a problem game when it comes to misplaced textures, objects, etc. Happens to me a lot with modded gametypes especially.

I'd just delete UT2004.ini and User.ini, then reboot the game and try again.

My guess is your RAM is faulty. If you're using more than one stick, try removing one and running the game. Do the same for all the sticks. The problem could be caused by one RAM stick or all.
