Fish
Media Player can play them fine (after I'd installed CCCP) but Media Center still throws up an error - Rather confused, because I thought if it played in WMP, it would play in MC too. Guess not, so what have I missed?
drbobiii
It would help if you said what kind of file you were trying to play and whether you are running a 32-bit or 64-bit Windows. In x64, Media Center is a 64-bit app while WMP defaults to 32-bit, meaning codecs that work in WMP generally won't work in Media Center.
Fish
32 bit. Avi files. I thought Media Center used Media Player as a "backbone", in that if it could play in WMP, Media Center could play it too. I could use WMP, but I prefer the way you can browse files in Media Center. I'd really like to nail this down, because I'm planing on building a HTPC with W7. I'd like to use Media Center, but if it can't play my movies I'll have to look for an alternative solution. Do you happen to know what codec the video is encoded with (xvid, etc)? In my experience, Win7 has played all video files fine (save .mkv) without extra codecs/filters. Fish
Yeah, xvid. And Gspot says that the codecs are installed. I'm currently looking for alternatives to Media Center instead....
Preppy Veteran Posted June 15, 2009 Veteran Share Posted June 15, 2009 *After* you installed CCCP? What codecs does the AVI use?
