»X«
I tried out my 360 today after a 2 week break and couldn't connect to live. When I use the diagnostics it tells me "Your network doesnt have a sufficient MTU setting...minimum of 1364.." Well mines set to 1500 for a start. I'm using a Linksys WRT54GL running Tomato. Any thoughts? It just refuses to connect to xbox live.

Avalanche
Xbox live is down for maintenance. Sucks when you're not a hardcore gamer, you don't check gaming sites and then on your day off where you can finally enjoy multiplayer after hard working ... no xbox live ... not to mention that I couldn't find a single message on xbox.com for this downtime. SuperKid
They need to add a notice saying its down for maintainence instead of just not connecting, so it doesn't confuse people.

»X«
Oh right! Ooops. Well I know now :p Thanks for the heads up! But I do agree, there should be some sort of message. How is the average joe to know that "insufficient MTU" = Xbox Live is down for maintenance? ah well.

Admiral Michael
I also got a message on my 360 that there was going to be maintenance.
Remysaus
I also got a message on my 360 that there was going to be maintenance. Same, got it sometime last week.. Though they should just have the error say there's maintenance going on, shouldn't be that hard to just block out users and show a notification on the dashboard. So that explains why my Xbox tells me I have a MTU problem then instead of the fact its maintenance time?

Neo003
It had been in news for weeks and I still forgot and I thought they revoked my account or what :p. After couple of time trying to reconnect, it hit me it was July 16 and it was supposed to be down.
DrunknMunky Veteran Posted June 16, 2009 Veteran Share Posted June 16, 2009 I also got a message on my 360 that there was going to be maintenance. Ah yeah I forgot about that. So that explains why my Xbox tells me I have a MTU problem then instead of the fact its maintenance time? No I think genuinely your MTU is set too high on the router. After today, once you've lowered it the test will complete because Xbox Live will be back online again. It's not a case of the MTU size being too high that's supposed to be some sort of "error message" for XBL down time. Did you ever have any connection problems in the past with XBL? Smashing Pumpkin
Mine said MTU as well. Although to be fair you can tell it's a problem with XBL because if you test connection your 360 should connect fine to your net work and the internet and then encounter a problem connecting to XBL. Everlong241
Xbox Live is down today. :( Does anyone know if I can play AVI files that require the media update when not connected to Live? I've downloaded it before but since I'm not connected to Live it keeps saying I need the update.

thefonz
Ha! My new 360 just arrived today so obviously i was excited to get hooked up with Live. I had no idea the servers were down and spent about 20min playing with my router settings. Its cool that its not my fault though! Looking forward to getting past the MTU failure and enjolying the new User Experience everyone raves about,
