kevinchan
hi, i'm considering replacing my macbook (mid 2007)'s hard disk. What exactly does it support? I mean would one with higher RPM, and more cache memory work with my mac? For your information, my mid 2007 macbook comes with a 160GB HDD at 5400rpm. thx. thefarewellnote
Yes any HD speed will work, like a 7200 RPM with a 16 MB Cache. You can get them at any computer store or online. Just know that the higher RPM drives will be a little more nosier in your machine than the stock drive. Just make sure you get a 2.5 model and not the 3.5 models (for Desktop machines) Dimensions: 2.5" wide x 9.5mm tall You can use this one as an example http://www.ifixit.com/Apple-Parts/500-GB-7...e-New/IF107-
Aaron Veteran Posted June 16, 2009 Veteran Share Posted June 16, 2009 I bought this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16822152114 and installed it in less than 10 mins. Of course restoring the software took a while longer...

Gary2MBz
If you want some speed too, I suggest the drive I put in my laptop. Link It is a wonderful drive too, many MacBook Pro users confirm it works and even PS3 users. Some may say it vibrates but from experience the only reason that is is because it is screwed in poorly. It needs to be screwed in snug and smoothly, no rushing to put it in. Also bad mounting can cause vibration, again slip it in snug.
