FaiKee
vask, in another thread, had mentioned that after 7229, the win7 builds were in VHD format, so actually what has been leaked to the web by creditable leakers were probably original official builds. SoLoR, in the same thread, had posted a way to compile the VHD to ISO, using ImageX of WAIK(Windows Automated Installation Kit) and loaded by the 7229 ISO, unfortunately it takes a geek familiar with commands to handle it. xJakex of Win7Ctr posted another thread, using GImageX(ImageX in GUI form), then it became a simple and easy task, it's just like using EasyBCD instead of running BCDedit: Steps: 1. Start > Right-click on My Computer > Manage > Disk Management (i.e. in your existing win7 OS) 3. Click on More Actions and select Attach VHD, and locate your VHD 4. Open up GImageX 5. For source, select the drive which the VHD was mounted to 6. For destination, make the file name install.wim and choose where it should be placed 7. For SKU Flag, choose Ultimate 8. For the description information, just customize it however you like 9. Once done, click the Create button 10. Once the conversion is complete, open UltraISO 11. Open the ISO with UltraISO 12. Inside the ISO, there will be a sources folder, so just remove the install.wim file and drag the install.wim file that you made with GImageX into the sources folder. (In other words, you are just replacing the install.wim file that's on the ISO, with the one that you made.) 13. Finally, save it as an ISO 14. Burn the ISO using UltraISO or mount the ISO! Notes: - Download GImageX v2.0.14 http://www.autoitscript.com/gimagex/ - Naturally you can use your favorite virtualCD software instead of UltraISO. :)

FaiKee
It was found that the current leak 7260, since it belongs to the RTM branch, could not be loaded by the 7229 ISO. That was why the initial ISO upload from SoLoR and Vasill was withdrawn. Now it was found that it can be loaded with the 7100RC or the 7201 ISO's, so problem solved. :D
epilepsynweed
On a side note, I image most image mounting software (Dameon Tools, Alcohol, etc) will be updated to support VHDs.

nyolc8
for me, the vhd commands are greyed out in the disk management :(
Lord Ba'al
That makes no sense. +1 Why should it work with 7100 and 7201, but not with 7229?

hdood
On a side note, I image most image mounting software (Dameon Tools, Alcohol, etc) will be updated to support VHDs. I doubt it. Those are emulators for optical drives. VHDs are hard drive images, and have been used for a decade now. What makes you think they'd suddenly decide to support it? terminx
+1Why should it work with 7100 and 7201, but not with 7229? It makes sense. 7100, 7201 and 7260 are from the winmain branch, whereas 7229 is one of the sp1 builds (or at least non-winmain) IIRC. Lord Ba'al
7229 is non-winmain? Better look for another reason why 7229 doesn't work.
