Sethos
Halo 3: ODST pre-order bonusThursday 18-Jun-2009 2:30 PM Sergeant Johnson as playable character for pre-orders 360 owners who pre-order Halo 3: ODST will receive a special in-game bonus in the form of tough-as-nails cigar fan Sergeant Avery Junior Johnson. He'll be a playable character. Pre-order customers will be able to play as the Sergeant (see the screenshots below) in ODST's new co-op mode, 'Firefight', which has you and three mates defending against increasingly difficult waves of enemies, a bit like Gears' Horde mode. To get the pre-order token you'll have to buy Halo 3: ODST from "participating retailers", says MS. You can pre-order it from Play.com here. Those who buy Halo 3: ODST are also guaranteed access to the Halo: Reach multiplayer beta, which will go live before the game's release late next year. DrunknMunky Veteran Posted June 18, 2009 Veteran Share Posted June 18, 2009 It also has the highest purchase intent rating to come after E3, which actually surprised me. Especially that chart which was posted about the most talked about games. Halo 3 ODST wasn't even on the list  Nielsen?s claimed Halo: ODST has the biggest ?probable purchase intent? among gamers, based on surveys performed after E3.Here?s the top, um, 12, the percentage being the amount polled that said they?d buy the game. 1. Halo ODST - 53% 2. God of War III - 49% 3. Wii Sports Resort - 45% 4. Guitar Hero 5 - 42% 5. Final Fantasy XIII - 37% 6. Madden 2010 - 35% 7. Guitar Hero: Van Halen - 34% =8. Assassins Creed 2 - 32% =8. Need for Speed: Shift - 32% =8. Need for Speed: Nitro - 32% =8. NCAA Football 10 - 32% 12. Beatles Rock Band - 30% http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=24089 Epic :D
spenser.d
I like how Beatles Rock Band is 12th and they spent a solid 15 minutes on that damn game at the beginning of their conference :p -Spenser
madd-hatter
reach beta makes this game worth buying. sarg does not make it worth pre-ordering. i bet there is a better, more useful pre-order deal elsewhere.
Dead_Monkey
Beatles is really expensive and not track-compatible with other versions of Rock Band, which makes it a more complicated sell. I'll definitely be playing ODST eventually, because I'm a sucker for the Halo fiction, but it will probably be late and entirely offline.
Arconic
It also has the highest purchase intent rating to come after E3, which actually surprised me. I don't know why you're suprised. Nintendo have been churning games about a plumber that jumps on mushrooms with fangs for more than two decades. And, even though theyre bringing four more and it's the same ol' ****. The game will still sell. If it's got a brand or popular name, it will sell. No matter the quality.
g~man
didnt even play halo 3 and only messed with online for a few minutes at friends house, but for some reason im hyped for this one, think the coop campaign is going to be great, add firefight in there too and all the maps included for multi
Wazooty
I'm excited enough about reach that I will definitely buy this. I'm also a halo lore nerd. A lot happens after regrets ship leaves new mombasa. Like...the REAL worldwide invasion of earth starts (chief arrives late to the party in H3). Some of the spartans that we assume will be in reach also fought on earth in the 2 week span between chief leaving and arriving again, so maybe they could have some references to then to sort of tie it in to reach. The reach story (and leading up to its fall) I think is just as good if not a better story than H1-3 is...imo.
Dead_Monkey
The reach story (and leading up to its fall) I think is just as good if not a better story than H1-3 is...imo. Reach is definitely a high point in the lore. There's so much in the books that probably won't ever translate into games, unless they pull a Halo RPG, and I'm not sure how you would maintain the pace and stress that are series hallmarks. Ayepecks
To be honest, I never really got into the story at all in Halo 1/2/3. But I've read summaries/synopsizes of Reach and I think I'd like that story far more.
