Boz
I think this will be new Xbox altogether. It will have upgraded hardware specs plus Natal and camera integrated. It will play better games and will probably have different name but similar to xbox 360. People who want the technology from that new Xbox will get close to it with natal technology but I think it will definitely be a new Xbox. I do expect them to use same/similar motherboard and CPU to keep the costs at a profit but will probably bump up GPU and keep the design similar so from manufacturing point of view it would cost them pretty much the same as Xbox 360 but they would sell it maybe at $400 and they would lower Xbox 360 prices to be even cheaper (maybe $149 for Arcade, $199 for Pro and $249 for Elite). Argi
Perhaps the new 360 will just have the camera stuff built it while it'll still remain as an addon for current 360s? Maintaining backwards compatibility in that way.
+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted June 19, 2009 Author Subscriber² Share Posted June 19, 2009 WTF guys?! I clarified the title and everything and everyone is still second guessing a "new xbox". He said a new xbox 360, I can't make it any more obvious to readers of this topic.... ps. And MS denying it again already, looks like Balmer might of jumped the gun a little :p
Death Proof
Id say another iteration of Xbox 360 in 2010 is possible . otherwise if they look to bump the specs then the release would be more like 2011

Boz
Okay confusion clarified: Major Nelson says: A few people have emailed me regarding something Steve Ballmer said earlier today about a new Xbox coming in 2010. As the Xbox team stated at E3 two weeks ago, we are not even halfway through the current console generation lifecycle and believe Xbox 360 will be the entertainment center in the home for long into the next decade. Project Natal will be an important part of this platform, but we have not confirmed a launch date at this time. So it is just an Xbox 360 with integrated Natal. JoeC
So... how do I give my 360 a RROD again? Warranty should still be on next year... :)

Ji@nBing
Balmer has issued a statement: There was plenty of confusion yesterday when Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer had reportedly announced the company's plans to introduce a 'new' Xbox 360 in 2010. Was he simply confused? Were his comments misinterpreted? So rather than speculate, we went straight to the man himself to help sort out this situation. This afternoon, Steve Ballmer issued IGN the following statement: "I confused the issue with my poorly chosen words. There is no news in my comments. Things are as reported after E3. Sorry," While that helps clarify things immensely, we're still trying to figure out just what exactly was said during the conference. But as it looks now, we may have to close this case. Link I, for one am still hoping this is true. I'd love a "beefed" up 360, and I'd buy it day 1.

George P Global Moderator Posted June 20, 2009 Global Moderator Share Posted June 20, 2009 Well, a "beefed" up 360 could just be one with natal inside and a bigger HDD for all we know. The core hardware doesn't have to change. Though I'm still waiting on more info for the next hardware revision to 45nm.

Adding it as an accessory only made sense from the beginning since all natal is a bunch of cams and software update for the xbox, and you are good to go. Neo003
^ I understand your point but integrate natal into 360 seems like a good idea so you don't have extras junk around your TV. It would act just like you remote control sensor. There maybe a requirement on how much close to floor you can put at since if you put it on the floor it might not be able to see your head. And there is a requirement, because it won't work properly if the sensors can't pick up all the motion properly and the range would be limited. This is the same with the Wii sensor bar. George P Global Moderator Posted June 20, 2009 Global Moderator Share Posted June 20, 2009 I should have said bundled inside. That's what I actually meant. When I said "inside" I was thinking inside the sku/box. heh.

The Teej
I still don't forsee a beefed up XBOX 360 next year. It'll most likely be a new bundle with Natal. A beefed up XBOX 360 just doesn't make sense - no developers could take advantage of it, otherwise they'd be splitting up the user base, which is a REALLY bad thing to do, especially considering the 360 will probably have around 40mil users by 2010, that's a lot of people to just disregard for the sake of a bit more RAM and processing power. TBH, it's not really the hardware at all, it's the storage medium (the DVD), that's the most limiting thing. What I think would most likely happen is a slimmed down 45nm 360, with Natal built in, with a really big hard drive (i.e. 500GB, or maybe even 1TB), and let developers break that 8GB limit on current 360 titles.
