In the Longhorn days it was special to have a new build since it had significant changes and secrets that were way beyond Windows XP. And there were those lab06 builds with the most futuristic stuff even Windows 7 doesn't have. The Windows 7 builds are far less interesting because they are kinda the same since build 7077 :)

Don't get me wrong, it's a great OS, but the leaks are just not interesting enough to reinstall each time a new leak appears.

I agree, but I still find myself installing almost each leaked build

Well it is official the newest inbound build will be 7262. VHD's will be leaked. Both x32 and x64

There are also some new icons, and yes...

The new startup sound...

WZOR has more news... Check it out :)

It looks like it is very unlikely to leak. Wzor says (on their site) that access to these builds has been closed both for partners and microsoft employees.

Two things broken in Windows 7 where one of them is major.

Windows 7 x64 can't detect and use all available RAM like 4GB machine even though. There are so many rigs with this problem and under Vista x64 is all good.

Second minor problem is that Windows 7 can't detect i7 CPU frequency correctly even if it's not overclocked. Same problem is with Windows Vista.

7262 release should be RC2 in my book. I don't think Windows 7 reached its quality there.

I agree, I think they rushed it ever since the beta. The beta was an accurate representation of what you would expect from a beta (unlike the vista beta). However, since then there have been so few real improvements and fixes that it feels rushed. Up to build 7260 there is still that dodgy aero animation glitch (where the close/open animation loses a few frames causing a slight stutter, those who still think their animation is smooth try the trick that slows down aero animation and you will see). There are also still issues with a number of built in drivers (one example is the driver for upek finger print reader that fails to register any swipes after waking from sleep. The problems are not limited to those I described, but at least to me they are major bugs/issues that should have been addressed well before we entered the rtm candidate stage.

I have a Core i7 920 and 6g of ram and it detects and uses them all just fine under W7 x64 on my Asus P6T.

I've installed the Intel Chipset files as well as making sure to get an update (ATK0110 ACPI Utility) from Windows Update.

Can't remember off hand if it detected it fine before I ran WEI or not, but looking at my System screen now it detected everything fine.

They are not in a rush. Many enthusiasts and press were saying it was ready before the RC. They have addressed most of the important bugs and have made significant changes to improve performance and reliability. Anything else will go into the first service pack. Just as it has always been done.

It will be up to the individual OEM's and system builders to ensure that the remaining driver issues get resolved as the begin to deploy Windows 7.

WZOR doesn't say 7262 will be leaked, but it does say it can be rtm, they are waiting for polling results. they also say chosen win_rtm will be recompiled as winmain.

7300 wil be the number they use for the RTM. I know this from first hand.

No you don't. 7300 being the RTM build is conjecture, and easy to assume given 7000, 7100, and perhaps 7201 were milestone builds. Guessing that 7300 will be RTM based on this isn't the same as knowing first hand.

Have you all gotten so desperate for new builds that we're now hypothesizing what new builds will be?

when it goes RTM, do you think it will still be subject to change? did i have a brain fart or did something like that happen with vista?

The build that gets officially chosen/signed off as RTM will be the same build that will ultimately end up on store shelves in October.
