The Patri0t
If you look down they have updated status about Windows 7 RTM release. They had first given 9:00 pm Moscow Time today for further information about Windows 7 RTM but now they are saying: We do not still have adequate information about the passage of the signing of [reliza] and the technical parameters of final RTM of assembling Windows 7. We is expected to obtain information from " [tsekha]" it is now nearer to 24:00 on Moscow. - we still do not have any information shedding light on the proceeding events in MS! As soon as we will obtain adequate information so we immediately let us inform you and yeah, the translation is done by Babelfish so don't laugh. jbarcus81
So did M$ get wind of all this and decide not to compile the final RTM yet? I have an odd feeling that nothing will be leaked this weekend.. then there is the scheduled maintenance for MSDN, TechNet, Connect, etc. coming up.. never know I guess.. Nothing to do but wait now.. hdood
Or... maybe there were no plans at all to make the final version today. So are we all pirating it when it does come out before it makes it to stores/MSDN/TN, or do we draw the line at just the pre-release leaks? jjrambo
I believe Windows 7 reached RTM. :)
boogerjones
So did M$ get wind of all this and decide not to compile the final RTM yet?Yeah, Microsoft is basing the Windows 7 release schedule on what Wzor and Neowin forum users post. WTF. I recommend to wait for the real technet/msdn/retail release. That is just me though. With the maintenance starting today on msdn/technet, I believe they are likely gearing up the servers for the onslaught of downloads. :) Could be wrong, but I imagine that it is a big possibility. However, I am not speculating that they are releasing the RTM soon. I am simply saying the maintenance is likely in preparation for it. :)

That's exactly what I meant! Thanks for pointing that out! No.. what I meant was simply that maybe M$ feels they should keep RTM under a tighter lid because of all the previous leaks. Only M$ knows what they are going to be doing.

Getting it through unofficial channels saves microsoft on server traffic. Can just get the keys from connect/msdn/technet once it goes up. Those that have no way of getting keys (legally) before the retail relesea should probably not bother.
JamesCherrill
Presumably the RTM version will need a proper key, RC keys won't work, surely?
Kevin.
Presumably the RTM version will need a proper key, RC keys won't work, surely? That's correct. The beta and RC keys won't work with the RTM.
hdood
Which should be obvious, otherwise Windows 7 would be free.

vask
Mines did for 7260 7260 is not rtm, nor does it have the activation algorithm that will go into rtm.
jjrambo
MS will leak RTM cause you will have 120 days window to obtain the key and activate it. Windows 7 will have same activation scheme as Vista, just different key algorythm on which basis key is generated. That's 4 months which is end of October :) Also i believe that MS wants people (enthusiasts) to run RTM build prior October Release to get that final feedback. jjrambo
Er, no. Nobody can leak it unless it steals it, only MS Employees can leak it. Btw you will have 30 days time period to activate Windows and you can rearm it 4 times i believe which puts it into 120 days period. And i think leak will happen on Monday. wguimb
This is getting so funny. Everyone just about is putting so much faith on WZOR. It's widely known that MSFT plans to actively protect the final RTM builds (greater than 7261) and they are targeting Russian sites. WZOR may be in the blind for a reason. No?
