Quick Pick
Hey guys my WD MyStudio hard disk is acting strange. It is mounting in Disk Utility, and on the menubar's WD Drive Manager (which shows a grayed out '0% used') but not the finder. Time Machine also doesn't recognize it. I tried to repair it, but it says 'error: cannot repair or verify'. Here is the info pane from Disk Utility. Thanks guys!
Guest jgrodri
Sorry to say but changes are its busted, Where it shows " Partition map scheme" it should say GUI, FAT or APT. just in case OS X is reading it wrong for some reason, try hooking it up to another mac or to a pc with linux or windows + Macdrive on it. You could also try reformatting, maybe it will work, at the expense of losing all data on it. I have a MyStudio myself, and the arranty on them is like 3 years, so you probably are still under warranty, contact WD.
TFindley
My WD Studio packed up a few months back. Was using a Maxtor up until a couple of weeks back in place of it, then that died too. I have a feeling that Time Machine lowers the life of the drives. I may try to change my backup settings to be once every two hours instead of once every hour. see if I can increase the life of this new drive. I believe studio drives have a 5 year life on them though, so you should be able to get it replaced.
Quick Pick
Yeah it won't let me reformat. Gives me a "resource busy" error. Tell me, could I possibly take the hard disk out of the case? Thinking of sticking the disk in my PS3 and seeing what happens.
