Win 7 boot time super slow slowdown

Recommended Posts

Hi All, long time lurker here. Finally registered to share something odd and hope for help.

I have a super speedy computer (i7, 12GB ram, Intel XM-25 SSD for boot drive). It used to boot super fast, then earlier today I installed the Windows virtual machine tool and Windows XP virtual machine to try out. Now I sit at the "Starting Windows" screen for 3 solid minutes (versus 10 seconds before). I've seen people on this forum do great things with eventlogs so I was hoping someone could see something I can't. I'm going to put up my before and after event logs ...

Here is a speedy boot in eventlog BEFORE everything went to heck. MainPathBootTime: 10860

Since this happened I've tried system recovery, then undoing system recovery when it didn't help. I've also checked some other applications to make sure it isn't the well known Intel XM-25 fragmentation issue.

Oh, yes, Win 7 Build 7100 RC :)
