Anybody excited for the new Call of Juarez?

I really enjoyed the demo for the 1st one, but then for some reason never picked it up. I might have to give this one a go. There aren't enough good western games.

sounds good, hopefully will also get it this week. The first was OK, wouldn't call it a great, but still fun and it had a substantial story to it as well. What interests me in the sequel is that it takes place during the Civil War, which is something very few media projects tackle these days.

That is the part that gets me as well. Any Civil War era games usually blow but that is because they deal directly with the Civil War. I just hope this is up to par with the first.

So far the game is good, the story is good as well. I am however waiting for the gameworld to open up a bit. Right now the game plays like "Call of Duty: Civil War" which I wasn't expecting, but the graphics on the character models are amazing.

The cover system is very intuitive, but takes a little bit getting used too. There are times where i'd definitely consider something to be a coverable object, such as certain trees, but the game appears to disagree with me. The fact that you can actually be shot through objects is a nice touch as well...now you really need to pay attention to what is "cover" and what is "concealment"

Right now my only beef is the concentration mode which is not really a bullet time mode, more of a "your going to kill everything in sight" win button for trapped situations if you have your meter built up, but the co-op concentration mode moments are quite fun, reminded me of army of two.

I'm looking forward to the standoff sequences, haven't gotten to any yet.

Where did you get it already?

Damn you Quma, you make it hard for honest folk to get their games on time!

Mystic, good to know you're interested in the 1860's as well, it's like the war has already been forgotten by the culture at large.

Well I didn't want to outright say piracy to Quma, I always like to hear a good excuse first.

Neo, I really love the history behind the Civil War but sadly as a gamer, I absolutely hate the Civil War. There have been a handful of Civil War titles out there but the concept of a game accurately portraying the war is absurd:

1) Any Civil War game is way too fast passed

2) You would be dieing constantly

3) Nobody wants to have reloading take 30 seconds to a minute

I think you get the point. The closest we ever get to the Civil War era, would be a western. They aren't using slow loading rifles and who doesn't love shooting rounds from revolvers? I really can't wait to sink into this one!

I may wait on this one because Im a bit full of FPS games but I did like the first one. I like the time era, weapons, and the colors of the environment. In the first game I could not use the Bible the right way for some reason.

If there's a demo I'll give it a try, but I'm not really looking forward to it. I think the era and setting limit the game's potential; limited weapons, worn genre, and probably overloaded with cliche and stereotypes. Not my bag.

BTW if anyone really enjoys wild west, check out the movie Django, one of the original spaghetti Westerns; it's hilarious. Make sure you get the Italian language version, not the English dubbed.

Where did you get it already?
Sorry, dude, but I'm nominating that for dumb naive question of the day.

What does piracy have to do with release dates? It's going to happen regardless.

I wonder how it plays on the pc? I can only play FPSs on the pc, but I won't buy the game if it's a console port.

I'll let you know. I will have mine later today when I get off work.

DM - no idea what it has to do with release dates, just felt like saying that at the time. or maybe it was the Sam Adams said it for me.

Mystic - i think a lot of people would be interested in a slightly more accurate Civil War game, after all even the WWII stuff isn't truly authentic. Compromises have to be made for the sake of entertainment. And it needs to be done by non-Americans, too touchy a subject still within the country proper. Remember that late 80's North vs South game Infogrammes did? it was hilarious and great, but many in the US found it offensive i recall.

boogerjones, Westerns are a worn game genre? i don't think so, they're pretty thin on the ground.

Is the first CoJ worth playing? It didn't get good reviews.

If I never played anything that got a couple bad reviews, I would have a pretty boring gaming experience. As you can tell from many of the previous posts, the game was underrated and quite fun.

Wow, I've played it now over Steam and I am seriously impressed with the game. First off, the graphics are beautiful. I can max the game out on my rig here and it runs great and looks even better. Secondly, as Sethos said the cover system is AWESOME. I wish third person shooters would use a system like this, and more first person shooters omg! The gun sounds and recoil are about perfect, though the sniper rifle is a bit, funky.

Single player is quite interesting so far, quite a bit better imo than the first game's. Multiplayer is just plain awesome though. Tons of maps it seems (I think I counted like 22 so far) and like, 8 game modes. And not 3 modes and 5 more copy them. Most are pretty unique and are quite fun.

Eurogamer gave this a 7/10 and that's just to low. It deserves at least a 8.5 or 9 imo.

Started playing Bound In Blood last night, and have to say so far I kind of like it. I never got to playing the first one, and I figured why bother if I had the new one and was able to play it. As usual I only got to check it out for 45 minutes or so, having a wife does this to you, but what I did check out I liked so far.

Finally had time to get it yesterday. Sadly I have to leave for work in an hour or two so I don't even know if I'll be able to play it today! :(
