Anybody excited for the new Call of Juarez?

What bothers me is that I can run the game maxed out just fine but my 4870X2 is constantly on full throttle and anyone with that card knows how noisy it can get - I have never, ever experienced my GPU going full blast constantly, it either settles down or never kicks in ... Annoying :/

I want to get it but im broke for awhile. What I would love to see is a sandbox western where I can just ride between towns / ranches / etc and just wreak havoc. A GTA Western would be tops...

Then look into Red Dead Redemption, it's practically GTA western developed by Rockstar, gonna be released by the end of the year I think. :)

Anyway, just played some of this and I'm pretty impressed, this is basically COD:western warfare  it looks great, plays great and the story seems interesting enough so far.

Monitor your temps ingame and if they aren't that bad, just manually set the fan to a lower speed.

Yeah, same here, ever since I played GUN I was hoping someone would do it properly. I loved GUN, played it way too much, but the game itself was pretty poor really. :p

PC gamers..pah. You're like the army corp of engineers to the 360's marine recon. talking about these high resolutions and core temps...what's next, moisturizer? tsk tsk.

at any rate, this one is a huge improvement over the first, it's got a good story which i'm enjoying, and good action. the visuals are nice on the 360, but i imagine not as good as those on your precious Pentagon calculators...freaking rear echelon technocrats! sorry, been watching too much Generation Kill, it's making me miss my brief stint in the military...all that i COULD have been :(

And Ubisoft ****ed us again with the MP...it's great fun and has huge potential, but has so many problems and glitches it ain't funny. constant freezing, terrbile lag..what's wrong with these people?

The only negative right now for me with the game is with the multiplayer. Now I LOVE the multiplayer for this game, don't get me wrong. But there are constant connections problems, and lag among other things right now. You constantly get disconnected from the internet lobby system, and then you can't log in again for awhile which means you can't play online. Then, connections to other people are bad to begin with, getting in game you lag even more.

Other than those complaints, the game is amazing. If they can patch/fix the multiplayer stuff fairly quickly, I'll be very happy with this game for some time to come. Sadly, I feel a broken multiplayer (well not broken, but not working well let's say) usually spells doom for a game's multiplayer life on the PC. I hope people will keep trying and keep playing it online, as it's incredibly fun and very well done.

And yeah, the Chrome Engine 4 is very optimized. It's hard to believe this engine is 9 years old already. And we get Chrome 2 (the game) this year or next also! w00t

Started playing last night...only for half an hour though.

I'm confused about the cover system. What's the point of it again?

It's completely automatic. Walk up to almost any object and you'll either lean (wall, box etc) or kneel/lean (box, crate, hay, etc). There is no "sticky" key to press or stupid way to uncover yourself, you just move away and instantly your out of cover.

If you are in cover you can take much more damage than if you aren't (duh). I'm on Chapter 3 now and cover really, really comes in handy at some points :)

Yeah, the cover-system is probably my favorite thing about the game, feels very intuitive, also reminded me a bit of the Darkness, the way you automatically position your hands/guns when close to walls or objects.

I have come to the conclusion the cover system must work better on a PC, as I am pretty sure most of the people on here saying it is good I believe are playing it on their PC's. On the console it just feels akward, and it is actually inverted even though control settings are not, so just does not feel very intuitive to me at all.

Even without the cover system, I am flying through the game. I find just running and gunning works pretty much everywhere. Then ducking to gain back health, and abusing the hell out of the focus mode by pressing B, and it seems to just fly by. Only places I really die or shoot offs and sometimes when I run and gun and just push it to far. Other than that seems real easy to play to me. A little bit to easy honestly.

only the duels are nigh on impossible...just like with FNR4, these idiots took a perfectly workable system and put it on the friggin analog sticks...inaccurate, loose and mushy analog sticks. Why? Cause they're game developers! They playtest on dev kits and worksations, not on the lowly gear available to us pitiful plebians!

I have only got to play for about 30 minutes but I do have a few questions. Is the auto aim really that bad (really takes control) for everybody else? When you sneak around those soliders at the beginning and fight with them, I was in the trees (couldn't see any soldiers) but the auto aim kept finding them. Haven't looked in the settings yet but I'm hoping to turn it off.

DL: Haven't tried playing it with a 360 controller yet but on the PC the cover system is very easy.

guess this one is for the PC then, because the online is also garbage. it always nominates a couple players with good connections to dominate, which means you then pump them full of lead to no avail. They bat eyes at you and your dead. Aiming is a joke. The auto aim is overkill in SP and does NOTHING in MP. I've talked to some people while playing team deathmatch aka posse and they said the same thing. hence there's almost no servers right now, and it's a day off tomorrow.

I'm telling you people, beginning to think people like Sethos were right after all, it's now one mediocre turd after the other. the morons have taken over the industry. run.

I would assume the PC version was the lead version this go round, since Techland's past games are all PC versions first mainly then ported to console. Chrome for example, etc. So it stands to reason the PC version just plays better.

I believe you can turn the auto-aim off, or lower it anyways (at least on the PC version, I swear I saw the option, to tired to look now though). And as I said in a previous post, the MP portion on PC is buggy as well, but not unplayable. It just needs a patch, and I would assume the 360/PS3 versions need a patch or two as well from the looks of it.

Sounds good, I also need to go to bed but will look for the option tomorrow. I know people are complaining about the multiplayer but going into this (for anybody that played the last one), multiplayer shouldn't have been your driving reason for buying this game. It wasn't going to be anything spectacular regardless. Hence my suggestion to others on the fence is to play through SP once or twice instead with a rental copy.

Maybe I haven't played it enough, but I really love it and don't really understand the issues mentioned here. It's just plain fun imo.

Quma posted this a couple pages back but I realize what he is talking about.

"Right now my only beef is the concentration mode which is not really a bullet time mode, more of a "your going to kill everything in sight" win button for trapped situations if you have your meter built up, but the co-op concentration mode moments are quite fun, reminded me of army of two."

If anybody that has played the first game remembers that system, I definitely would enjoy using that a lot more.

Played it some more and while it does keep the same feel, it gets repetitive quite fast plus, a few of the action scenes just make you cringe! How do you get a couple of horses to ram and smash through fences, walls and entire houses without them even flinching - Stuff like that annoys me :p

I will probably persist and complete it.

Just completed this and I was quite surprised. It certainly wasn't on my radar. But it still managed to be a thoroughly enjoyable game. I didn't care for the constant 'DRAW' set pieces but once you got the hang of them you tended to nail them first time. I could just be being generous though since there is so little out for the foreseeable future.

Is it me or is the general the same guy who was the villain from Die Hard 3? :o
