bedwasboy2k6
I am selling a Macbook Pro 2.2 GHz, iPod 30GB, 20" Cinema display, Wireless apple keyboard and mouse plus the leopard install disks. How much do you think I can expect to get for this auction? Selling to raise money for university... I will also be getting the new entry level macbook pro if all goes well. Ie The profits will be going towards university lol :D but yeah.. how much do you guys think?
Rudy
You might get enough money to buy another macbook pro but I doubt you'll get any profit
thefarewellnote
I am going to guess if you sold all the items above you would make just under 2k or so dollars. You didn't mention what model your MacBook Pro is so I will guess it is the older model. All in USD MacBook: 1300 - if in perfect condition iPod: 80 Cinema Display - 200-250 Leopard Install Disk: 40 Keyboard and Mouse: 60 -80 And to be honest. I would keep your pro. You will NOT notice a large increase in speed and power from your model to the new unibody models. Yes it has a better video card, but only a small increase in the video card. If you are using it for uni. then I would guess you would be using it for papers and research. which your old one would do perfectly fine.
Brian M. Veteran Posted June 22, 2009 Veteran Share Posted June 22, 2009 I'd also be tempted to keep your MacBook Pro (depending on how old it is). IIRC, the last gen MBPs had an 8600m, which is more powerful than the 9400m included with the entry level MBP now (they've removed the dedicated graphics from the entry level 15" MBP - it's 9400m only). Thanks for catching that - I keep forgetting that they removed the 9600 from them entry level machines. :)

bedwasboy2k6
I only want the entry level macbook though :s Surely If I sell everything for about ?1000-?1500 and buy a macbook that money would serve a better purpose for University. btw can I post links on here:s:s And I have also noticed that I have 44 people watching my item now, how much does that say about what the final price will be? Number watching doesnt necessarly correlate with the amount of bids... or the final price... heck I watch items sometimes just to see what they go for

bedwasboy2k6
Just to clarify a few things - The reason I am selling is not only to raise money for University but I am not a huge fan of the MacBook Pro, I bought it off eBay recently thinking it would be great - it's ok, but not for me. I am also extremely skint, need to save money for university but I can't get a decent job because I can't work Sundays. The new 13" MacBook Pro really appeals to me and that's the reason I want to sell the MacBook Pro. I have had an iPod lying at the back of my drawer for ages unused as I now have an iPhone and the ACD would be better off on someone elses desk while it generates interest in my bank account. Therefore I then don't need the keyboard and mouse. The 13" MacBook Pro is better than the MacBook Pro too, better graphics, more RAM, bigger HDD etc and it's smaller. I am also eligible for student discount and have a credit note for further discount at my local Apple store. So the reasoning behind it all is that, I get a Laptop which I prefer while selling things I no longer use with an extra ?200-?300 to go in the bank left over. So keeping the MacBook pro would mean that I would loose the opportunity to get a smaller more powerful one Feel free to poke holes in my reasoning, I just want to do the right thing in the long term. get rid of your mac book pro and go with a windows machine windows 7 lol windows... I think you might end up loseing money in the end depending on how it goes... I am a little confused on your logic though, you don't like the MacBook Pro so you want a another MacBook Pro? I am a little confused on your logic though, you don't like the MacBook Pro so you want a another MacBook Pro? I want the 13" MacBook Pro not the 15". Essentially I want the MacBook. I find the one I have now is not very portable, I always have it on a desk since its so hot having it on my lap. The 13" is just far better for me. I am taking a risk here though, I am relying on the fact that I am going to make a healthy amount of money.
Brian M. Veteran Posted June 22, 2009 Veteran Share Posted June 22, 2009 I'd personally save the gift voucher and buy online if you do. Students get a free 3 year parts and labour warranty, which you don't get in-store. Use the voucher to buy some accessories :p.

bedwasboy2k6
I just realised i missed out a big factor.. I bought the macbook pro for about ?500, and seen that the same model was going for about ?900 on avg. on eBay, that's part of the reason I want to sell it too... double my money - get a better smaller machine.
