fifewiskey
Started playing Fallout 3 again, since the first attempt was highly unsuccessful. I'm at level 8 and am still not able to use the V.A.T.S. Is there something I'm missing to get it working. I can use it to the point of accepting the shot. I just keep pressing 'a' and nothing happens. Is there a certain skill that needs to be up'd? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I remember on the 360 I believe I pressed RB to bring up VATS and then pressed A or X to select my target, I think I hit RB again to get out of VATS and that's when I shot my targets...it's been a few months since I played though so I can't remember off-hand. Also: Check your AP to see if it hasn't run out. If it did, then there is your problem.
fifewiskey
AP is always full. I went to the V.A.T.S. "class" back in vault 101 and it worked but since then I haven't been able to use it. Talking to friends that play the game laugh at me when they find out I run and shoot like I'm playing killzone 2 or Halo. When I'm in the V.A.T.S. screen the accept button is dim. YounGMessiah
Also try being onto live(does not matter if your silver or gold) and see if Fallout 3 updates; it has had numerous bugs fixed over time..

Talking to friends that play the game laugh at me when they find out I run and shoot like I'm playing killzone 2 or Halo. When I'm in the V.A.T.S. screen the accept button is dim. If the accept button is dimmed, then one of two things is occurring: 1) The weapon you are using requires too much AP per shot than you have available, so you cannot select any number of shots in VATS (though this shouldn't happen as you should be able to get at least 1 shot in VATS with every weapon). 2) You are not actually selecting a shot. Enter VATS by pressing the RB, then select the target with the stick, then, IIRC, pull the right trigger however many times you want to enter a shot on that target, then hit A to accept and it should kick you back to real-time and execute the shots. Good call on the trigger, that's what I was forgetting. That should fix his problem right there.
